UAE Warns Against ‘Reckless’ Actions as Israel-Iran Conflict Escalates

As tensions escalate between Israel and Iran, the United Arab Emirates has called for restraint, warning that reckless actions could destabilize the wider region.

High-Level Diplomatic Talks

UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan spoke by phone with Iran’s newly elected President Masoud Pezeshkian, according to a report by the Emirati state news agency WAM. The two leaders discussed the Israeli airstrikes that hit key sites in Iran, including a strike on the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) building in Tehran on June 17, 2025.

UAE’s Message of Caution and Peace

UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed issued a strong warning against “uncalculated and reckless steps,” cautioning that such actions could spill over beyond Israel and Iran. The statement from the UAE Foreign Ministry underlined the country’s concern over rising instability in the region.

Efforts to De-escalate

President Sheikh Mohammed stated that the UAE is actively engaged in talks with various concerned parties to de-escalate the conflict. He also expressed solidarity with the people of Iran during these difficult times.

Regional Context

In recent years, the UAE has worked to rebuild diplomatic ties with Iran after a period of tension. At the same time, the Gulf nation normalized relations with Israel in 2020 through the Abraham Accords, balancing its regional diplomacy carefully.
