Israel carried out a military strike on Iran. Defence Minister Israel Katz confirmed the operation. Explosions were heard across Tehran early in the morning. People in the capital woke up to loud blasts. Later, Iranian state television acknowledged the incident.
Special Situation Declared in Israel
After the strike, Israel took immediate action. Defence Minister Katz announced a “special situation” across the country. He also ordered all schools to stay closed on Friday. So far, Israeli officials haven’t revealed what the military targeted in Iran.
Warning of Retaliation
Katz warned about a possible counterattack. He said, “Following the State of Israel’s preemptive strike against Iran, a missile and drone attack against the State of Israel and its civilian population is expected in the immediate future.”
Iran Responds
Iran quickly responded. Its military posted on X, saying, “Remember, we didn’t initiate it.” This suggests Iran views the Israeli action as the start of the conflict.
Nationwide Emergency in Israel
To prepare for a response from Iran, Israel declared a national emergency. The Defence Ministry released a statement repeating Katz’s warning. It said, “Following Israel’s preemptive strike against Iran, a missile and drone attack against the State of Israel and its civilian population is expected in the immediate term.”
The ministry added, “Therefore, and in accordance with his authority under the Civil Defense Law, Defence Minister Israel Katz has now signed a special order, according to which a special state of emergency will be imposed in the home front throughout the entire State of Israel.”
U.S. Response
Meanwhile, the United States has not issued a formal response. The White House remained silent. However, two U.S. officials told Reuters that the U.S. had no role in the strike and did not help Israel in this operation.
