Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday declared that Israel’s conflict against Iran has led the nation’s nuclear program “to ruin.”
During a televised address to the country after the initiation of a ceasefire brokered by both nations, Netanyahu explained that Israel damaged nuclear sites in Natanz and Isfahan and the Arak heavy water reactor.
“For dozens of years, I promised you that Iran would not have nuclear weapons and indeed … we brought to ruin Iran’s nuclear programme,” Netanyahu said, according to the Associated Press.
Netanyahu Vows Continued Vigilance Against Iran’s Nuclear Revival
During his 10-minute address, Netanyahu asserted that Iran would never possess a nuclear weapon.
“We have thwarted Iran’s nuclear project. And if anyone in Iran tries to rebuild it, we will act with the same determination, with the same intensity, to foil any attempt,” he added.
The government of Israel declared earlier on Tuesday that it had removed the ‘dual existential threat’ of Iran’s missiles and nuclear programme through its attacks.
Armies Will Study Operation Rising Lion in Military History
Netanyahu asserted that Israel’s strike on Iran, dubbed “Operation Rising Lion”, would etch itself into the history of Israel’s wars and that armies everywhere would study it in classrooms.
Iran and Israel achieved a ceasefire after they traded missiles for more than 12 days, with US President Donald Trump going to Truth Social and declaring the ceasefire on Tuesday.
Trump Reacts to Ceasefire Violation, Warns Netanyahu
The ceasefire deal hit a minor setback as Israel accused Iran of breaching it. Donald Trump later attacked both, appearing angrier about Israel, for breaching the ceasefire.
In a post on Truth Social, he warned Israel not to drop any more bombs on Iran and asked it to return its pilots home immediately. Trump also called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and reportedly asked him “not to attack Iran at all”.
