Social media was abuzz earlier this month with rumors that a senior Xiaomi director had been involved in over 200 extra-marital relations. Feng Debing, reportedly the then-Brand Director for Xiaomi Group in China, was identified as the man in a Dimsum Daily report.
The report alleged Feng had ‘sugar daddy’ deals with more than 200 women, paying them and offering them gifts in exchange for sex through so-called ‘maintenance contracts.’ It also alleged that Feng’s wife discovered these extramarital affairs and was enraged after finding out he had fathered six or seven children from other women.
Not REALLY Director
But new information has turned the tale on its head. The so-called Xiaomi director turned out to be only a kitchen staff member in one of the tech giant’s canteens.
Mothership reported that Xiaomi’s PR General Manager Wang Hua cleared the air, confirming that Feng never held any director role at Xiaomi. In a statement posted on Weibo, Wang revealed Feng was hired by Xiaomi in September 2016 as a kitchen worker whose primary task was cutting vegetables. He was dismissed in November 2016 for frequent absenteeism. “He never served as brand director for the Xiaomi Group,” Wang clarified.
Allegations of Several Affairs
Notwithstanding his entry-level position, Feng was said to have entered into several ‘sugar daddy’ deals, paying hefty amounts of money to women, some of whom were foreign students in China. The deals supposedly contained provisions for BDSM, sex consent, and other things. Feng was said to offer up to 100,000 yuan (about Rs. 1 lakh) per month, although it is not certain if he ever paid this or merely cheated the women.
Dimsum Daily said Feng’s wife discovered his affairs after she found intimate pictures and information on his phone. Images of Feng have also been widely circulating on Chinese social media.
