In a chilling case of domestic violence, a woman from Maharashtra’s Sangli district allegedly murdered her husband with an axe, merely three weeks after tying the knot. The brutal incident took place in Kupwad town, sending shockwaves through the region.
According to Assistant Police Inspector Deepak Bhandavalkar from MIDC Police Station, 29-year-old Radhika Lokhande attacked her 50-year-old husband, Anil Lokhande, while he was asleep. “The couple had an argument on Tuesday night. The next day around 12:30 pm, when Anil was asleep, Radhika struck him on the head with an axe, killing him on the spot,” said ASI Bhandavalkar.
After committing the crime, Radhika called her cousin and confessed to the murder. Police arrived at the scene and arrested her. She has since been presented before the court and remanded to police custody. Preliminary investigations indicate that a family feud led to the fatal act.
This murder surfaces just days after another shocking case, the Meghalaya honeymoon killing came to light. In that case, Sonam Raghuvanshi allegedly plotted and executed the murder of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, during their honeymoon, with the help of her lover and hired contract killers. The plot involved luring the victim to a remote location where he was killed and dumped in a gorge.
Authorities are continuing their investigations in both cases, which have raised serious concerns about growing fatal violence in strained marriages.
