Soham Parekh is the overnight social media hit after being accused of keeping jobs at several American startups at the same time. The controversy broke out when Suhail Doshi, the co-founder and former CEO of the analytics company Mixpanel, alleged Parekh was ‘scamming’ companies by keeping jobs at three to four startups.
San Francisco-based Doshi exposed that during Parekh’s employment at one of his companies, he found the engineer was also getting paid by at least three or four other startups. Five additional US startups have since made similar complaints, according to reports, which indicate the number could be even greater.
Not surprisingly, word that an Indian remote employee was able to allegedly scam several well-known, well-heeled startups quickly became memes. On X (previously Twitter), the ‘Soham Parekh’ scandal created a tidal wave of memes.
Indeed, the subject soon began trending on social media websites and even landed as a top-search term on Google Trends. Even LinkedIn’s CEO couldn’t resist getting in on the action, demonstrating just how much the story has caught on across the internet.
But who is Soham Parekh, exactly? As per a CV posted by Suhail Doshi on X, Parekh is a software engineer who studied his bachelor’s degree at the University of Mumbai and then did a master’s at the Georgia Institute of Technology. His CV also mentions past employment at Dynamo AI, Union AI, Synthesia, and Alan AI.
