Abhinav Singh, a popular Odisha rapper and engineer, died by suicide in his Kadubeesanahalli apartment in Bangalore at the age of 32. The incident occurred on Sunday evening, and the Marathahalli police have booked a case. Singh was employed with a private firm in Bengaluru at the time of his death.
Singh’s family holds his suicide to be precipitated by constant fights with his wife. It is reported that he ingested poison, reportedly as retaliation against allegations hurled at him by her. After a post-mortem examination, his body was repatriated to Odisha for last rites, as police pursue the investigation into his death.
His father, Bijay Nanda Singh, has lodged a written complaint with the Lalbagh police, naming 8 to 10 individuals and seeking a proper investigation. The family has also alleged that Singh had been mentally harassed by his wife and others.
While the investigators are attempting to reconstruct what happened to cause his death, the exact reasons for the fatal act are not known.

Identified by his stage name ‘Juggernaut,’ Singh was the pioneer of Odia rap culture. Cuttack Anthem, his popular single, brought him into the limelight, demonstrating his skill as a lyricist and profound cultural understanding. His songs blended Odia traditions with modern forms of rap, addressing social issues while indulging in his heritage. Through collaborations with Odisha-based artists such as MC Tor (Tanmay Sahoo), Singh made the hip-hop culture popular in Odisha and gained a following on YouTube and Spotify.
Controversies and Legal Disputes
Singh’s life, too, was surrounded by controversy. In August 2024, he came under serious allegation by Ollywood actress Supriya who claimed that he had stopped her music video release and had attacked her. The episode attracted lots of media light and legal scrutiny.
Additionally, Singh was involved in a separate controversy when his wife filed a complaint against him, leading authorities to seal an OYO hotel in Bhubaneswar where he was reportedly staying. He consistently denied all accusations, claiming that Supriya and an individual named Adarsh had conspired against him.
