What Is Movember? Why Did a UK Man Draw 120 km GPS Penis for Men’s Health?

Why Did a UK Man Draw 120 km GPS Penis for Men's Health

Terry Rosoman, 39, has made headlines by completing a remarkable 120 km GPS drawing of a penis in south Wales. He accomplished this feat to raise funds and awareness for men’s mental health. With the help of his friend Robin Hurst and the route-tracking app Strava, Rosoman managed to create the massive artwork in under 24 hours. He started his journey at Abergavenny railway station around 5 PM on Friday, November 1, and returned to the same spot before 4:30 PM the following day.

A Humorous Start with a Serious Purpose

When Rosoman first shared his plan in July, he joked about wanting to create the world’s largest penis drawing. “Am I doing this to secure my name as the first result on Google when someone searches ‘world’s largest c**k and balls’? Absolutely. However, I also have a far nobler cause in mind,” he said in an Instagram post. So far, he has raised over $9,000, exceeding his initial goal of $6,500 for the men’s charity month known as Movember.

A Grueling Challenge

Describing the challenge, Rosoman stated, “It was really tough. The hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. It was just a hard slog for 24 hours. I didn’t sleep, I ran through the night, pitch black, I couldn’t see anything. We got lost loads of times.” He further added, “The elevation killed us. It was really tough. I’m just glad to get it done.”

A History of Endurance

Rosoman is no stranger to endurance challenges. He has previously climbed Pen Y Fan ten times in 24 hours and completed an 80-km ultra-marathon while carrying a weighted rucksack. In 2013, he was in poor physical and mental health, prompting him to change his lifestyle. He feared that his unhealthy habits could lead to dire consequences. “I realised that if I didn’t turn my life around I’d perhaps no longer be here in the future, whether that was through health complications or getting to a point where you don’t want to be here,” he reflected.

What is Movember?

Movember, which takes place in November, is a global initiative focused on men’s health issues. It raises awareness for mental health, suicide prevention, testicular cancer, and prostate cancer. During this month, men grow moustaches to promote discussions and raise funds for these important causes.
