A video showing Sri Lankan pastor Jerome Fernando seemingly predicting the recent Air India plane crash has gone viral after industrialist Harsh Goenka shared it on social media. The 1.33-minute clip has stunned viewers with its eerie timing and content.
Goenka’s Post Adds Fuel to Online Frenzy
Sharing the video on X (formerly Twitter), Harsh Goenka wrote, “Unbelievable, isn’t it?” The post has since garnered over 3 lakh views. In the clip, Pastor Jerome can be heard warning about a “mid-air issue” involving “India’s national carrier.”
In his first warning on November 26, 2024, Fernando addressed Indian attendees at one of his events, saying, “I begin to see something… your national carrier was flying within your country… and this was a threat mid-air… you will hear it… this is mid-air issue.”

He repeated his caution on April 24, 2025, just 49 days before the incident: “Avoid red air craft body because this is mid in the air…”
Mixed Reactions Flood Social Media
The video’s resurfacing triggered a flood of reactions. Some were stunned, while others mocked the prediction. X user Dr. Nilima Srivastava called the prophecy “factually incorrect,” noting, “The crash happened at takeoff. Red Body was easy to predict given the number of technical glitches Air India has faced.”
She also pointed to past regulatory actions against Air India: a ₹10 lakh fine in August 2024 for non-compliance, and a ₹30 lakh penalty in February 2025 for letting an unqualified pilot operate a flight.
Another user, @hemant_architec, joked, “Airline companies should hire him to predict so they change colour or route and so on.”
Controversial Pastor in Spotlight Again
Jerome Fernando, leader of Sri Lanka’s Glorious Church, is no stranger to controversy. In December 2023, Sri Lanka’s CID arrested him after his sermon offended followers of Buddhism, Islam, and Hinduism. He claimed Buddha was “looking for Jesus,” said Muslims couldn’t call Allah their father, and mocked Hindus for worshipping animal-like deities.
Despite the backlash, Fernando continues to command a large following, especially among Sri Lankan celebrities, including national cricketers.
