In a brazen daylight robbery, a mobile shop owner in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor was attacked with chilli powder and looted of ₹50,000. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, April 30, was captured on CCTV and is now circulating widely on social media.

Robber Posed As Customer, Asked For Mobile Recharge

The victim, identified as Suhail, was attending to what appeared to be a regular customer at his mobile shop when the attack unfolded. The man, wearing a mask, initially asked Suhail for a mobile recharge of ₹19. Moments later, he asked for another ₹29 recharge. As Suhail processed the requests, the man pulled out a packet of red chilli powder concealed in his jacket.

Without warning, he flung the powder into Suhail’s eyes, temporarily blinding him and causing intense pain. Taking advantage of the chaos, the masked assailant snatched ₹50,000 from the cash drawer. Despite Suhail’s attempt to stop him, the robber escaped.

CCTV Footage Captures Escape, Police Investigate

The entire sequence was captured on CCTV. In the video, the accused can be seen fleeing the scene while Suhail, struggling to see, chases him out of the shop. “He threw chilli powder in my eyes. I couldn’t see anything. I tried to catch him, but he ran,” Suhail said.

Police rushed to the scene and launched an investigation. Authorities are scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify and apprehend the accused. A formal case has been registered.

“We are analysing all video evidence. The accused will be arrested soon,” a police official stated.

The incident has sparked concern about growing street crimes in broad daylight and has once again raised questions about safety in small commercial establishments.
