In a coordinated raid, the Haryana and Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squads (ATS) apprehended a terror suspect, Abdul Rehman, in Faridabad. He was discovered to be carrying two hand grenades, which were subsequently destroyed by the Bomb Disposal Unit.

Times Now sources say Rehman was reportedly scouting religious places, including the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, which was a possible target. His arrest was made when Faridabad police were on alert following civic body elections.

Additional investigations connected Rehman to another suspect who had earlier been arrested by the Gujarat ATS. On the basis of this link, agencies collaborated efforts that resulted in his arrest. Authorities believe that Rehman was working under the directions of handlers from outside the country.
