A chaotic scene unfolded aboard a Southwest Airlines flight at New York’s LaGuardia Airport after a visibly intoxicated woman caused a major disruption just before takeoff. Identified as 32-year-old Leanna Perry, the woman launched into a drunken tirade, assaulted a fellow female passenger, and made racist remarks—prompting her arrest and hospitalization.
Violent Outburst Caught on Camera
The incident took place around 1 AM on Tuesday. A video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user Collin Rugg captured Perry grabbing a masked woman’s hair and screaming, “Shut the f**k up!” As the victim cried out in pain, other passengers attempted to intervene.
While some recorded the altercation, two men and another woman restrained Perry, holding her arms down in an attempt to deescalate the situation. But she then spat at the female passenger she had previously attacked.

Racist Remarks Spark Outrage
The situation worsened when Perry began hurling racial insults. Pointing toward the woman she assaulted, she was heard saying, “Look at this fair lady, this fair ass bi*ch.” Addressing one of the men who helped subdue her, she added, “Hey, ugly ass fking dude. Okay, I’m sorry black guy. My boyfriend is black. My boyfriend is a fking black guy, ah.”
Detained and Charged
Following the incident, Port Authority Police detained Perry and took her to a nearby hospital. She was later transferred to the New York City Department of Corrections. Authorities confirmed that she faces charges of aggravated assault.
The outburst has drawn widespread criticism online, with social media users condemning Perry’s behavior and praising the passengers who intervened to restore calm.
