The charge came from the father of the victim, which resulted in the arrest of the 19-year-old suspect, NDTV reported. Police have stated they are now waiting for forensic reports to move ahead with the investigation.

Details of the Incident

Based on police sources quoted by NDTV, the father of the victim, in his complaint, told that his son had stepped out of their house for a walk on June 29 but didn’t come back home that evening. The family started looking for him.

During the search, a friend informed the family that the 16-year-old had visited the accused’s house after leaving home. When the family arrived at the residence, they found the teenager lying on a bed with the 19-year-old sitting beside him. Despite their attempts to wake him, the teen did not respond. A doctor was called, who confirmed that he had died.

How was the Teen Poisoned

Investigations showed that upon arrival at the accused’s residence, the victim was given a soft drink. He started vomiting a short while later and eventually died, as indicated by police reports.

The father of the victim also alleged in his complaint that the accused, some four months ago, had taken his son to Nagpur without informing members of the family. When the boy returned, his parents cautioned him against meeting the accused and discontinued all contact.

Subsequently, the victim allegedly ceased all contact with the 19-year-old, which angered the latter. The police said the accused then plotted the murder. On the day of the attack, he invited the teen over and purportedly served him the tainted drink.
