Man Converts to Islam After Crossing into Pakistan for Online Crush, But Faces Rejection—Here’s What Happened Next

A 20-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh, Badal Babu, crossed into Pakistan to meet his online crush, only to face rejection and legal troubles. Over two years ago, Badal connected with Pakistani woman Sana Rani on social media, and their online relationship grew stronger. So enamored, Badal decided to journey through the Attari-Wagah border, convert to Islam, and adopt the name Rehan to win her heart.

However, his dreams were shattered when Sana turned down his marriage proposal, leaving him stranded in Pakistan. He worked as a shepherd near her home in Mandi Bahauddin but was arrested on December 27, 2024, after falsely claiming to be from Karachi with no family connections.

Badal’s lawyer in Lahore argued that his client feared returning to India due to his conversion. Badal’s employer, Hazi Khan Asgar, said Badal had initially been invited by Sana and her mother but was rejected after revealing his intentions.

Badal, who recently contacted his family, remains in legal limbo. His next court hearing is scheduled for the end of the month.
