A Maharashtra wedding was suddenly called off in a contemporary variation of marriage customs not because of family disputes or personal issues but because of the groom’s poor CIBIL score. The Times of India (TOI) reports on Murtizapur that wedding plans were almost done when the bride’s uncle unexpectedly asked to verify the groom’s credit score.
The bride’s uncle was concerned by the groom’s several loans and low credit score upon re-reading the score, which suggested possible financial instability. The bride’s potential to offer a stable future was seriously questioned by the groom’s low CIBIL rating, often linked to missed loan, erratic payments.
Particularly the uncle of the bride’s family, they opposed the marriage on grounds that poverty would keep the groom from providing the stability needed in a marriage. In the end, the wedding was called off by the family.
A bride’s mother rescheduled nuptials after the groom behaved badly inebriated during the ceremony, followed by another Bengaluru event when a wedding was cancelled.
