‘Lucky Escape’: Woman Missed Crashed Air India Flight by 10 Minutes

Bhoomi Chauhan missed the Air India flight that crashed in Ahmedabad by just 10 minutes and described her experience as terrifying. The Boeing 787, carrying 242 people, crashed shortly after takeoff. DGCA confirmed the accident and launched an investigation.

‘Lucky Escape’: Woman Missed Crashed Air India Flight by 10 Minutes

Bhoomi Chauhan narrowly escaped being on the ill-fated Air India flight AI-171, which crashed near the takeoff point at Ahmedabad on Thursday. Addressing Republic TV, Chauhan explained her reaction, disclosing, “I missed my flight by 10 minutes… my body is still shivering.”

The Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner was traveling to London’s Gatwick Airport when it departed at 1:39 pm with 242 individuals aboard, including 230 passengers and 12 crew. The plane crashed shortly after takeoff and erupted in flames.

Air India states that the plane had 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, seven Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian aboard.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) confirmed the devastating news in a statement: “On 12th June, 2025, Air India B787 Aircraft VT-ANB, operating flight AI-171 from Ahmedabad to Gatwick, crashed just after takeoff at Ahmedabad. 242 people were on board the aircraft, 2 pilots and 10 cabin crew,” stated a senior DGCA official.

A team of DGCA has been sent to the site of the crash to determine the reason behind the accident.
