Seven people were arrested for violently attacking Karnataka civic workers who removed an unauthorized birthday banner. A viral video shows one worker being beaten with a cricket bat and beer bottles, sparking outrage.

Violence Breaks Out Following Banner Removal

A disturbing incident occurred in Karnataka after Rangappa C Herkal, a civic worker removed an unauthorised birthday banner belonging to the accused Shantu on the instructions of the municipal commissioner. The removal of the banner triggered anger and soon after that Akshata KC was accused of abusing Rangappa over the phone.

Assaults Escalate at Municipal Office

Later on June 5, six accused individuals armed with weapons barged into the municipal office and assaulted staff members. Two contract workers, Peerappa Shirabadagi and Kanthesh, were injured when struck with a scooter handle. The assailants also issued death threats. Following a complaint by Shirabadagi, police registered a case against the attackers.

Shocking Attack Captured on Video

On June 7, the violence escalated when about ten men, including Akshata KC, attacked another civic worker, Raju, inside a bar. A video that has gone viral online shows the accused thrashing Raju with a cricket bat and striking his head and face repeatedly with beer bottles.

Police have arrested seven individuals identified as Shantappa, Arjuna, Pratham, Fakkiresh Koravar, Mukesh, Prajwal, and Ganesh in connection with the violent attacks.
