A disturbing video circulating online has sparked widespread outrage after it showed an IRCTC staffer recklessly throwing garbage onto railway tracks from a moving train. The footage, which features an on-screen overlay asking “Who is responsible?”, has quickly gone viral and drawn sharp criticism from passengers and netizens alike.
Reckless Behaviour Captured on Camera
In the viral video, the staffer is seen emptying an overflowing dustbin directly onto the tracks while the train is in motion. Despite multiple warnings from nearby passengers, who could be heard urging him to stop, the staffer continued his act. At one point, when questioned by a passenger—“Then why is the dustbin placed here?”—he offered no response and merely justified his actions by saying, “It was full. Where else should we empty it?”

Swift Response by Authorities
Following the widespread circulation of the video, Indian Railways swiftly took action. The railway authorities confirmed that the staffer involved in the incident has been removed from his position and has been fined heavily. In an official tweet, Indian Railways stated, “There is a well-settled mechanism for garbage disposal in our Indian Railways. The OBHS staff that violated this protocol has been removed, and a heavy penalty imposed. The staff is being counselled to ensure proper cleanliness of the trains and railway premises.”
Public Outcry and Repeated Offenses
Social media users have strongly condemned the incident, with many questioning the purpose of having a dustbin if its contents are to be carelessly discarded. Critics have highlighted that such behavior not only endangers the safety of the passengers but also tarnishes the reputation of Indian Railways. This is not an isolated event—similar incidents have been reported in the past, including a comparable case from Barabanki in December 2023.
