Apoorva Mukhija, better known as The Rebel Kid, has emerged as India’s leading digital influencer. She is well-known for her bold, real kind of style and content that is liked by quite a lot of people, and just recently she became popular in the news for her humongous earnings. According to Business Today, she earns around Rs 2.5 lakh daily from her funny videos, reality show appearances, and brand promotions. Although the news circulated widely online, it did raise some controversy as well.
A recent social media post by an IIT alumnus has sparked a fiery debate on social media, highlighting the glaring contrast between the lives of conventional scholars and social media celebrities. The viral post was posted on X by a handle named @digitalsangghi.
In the post, the user explained the sacrifices made in studying for and cracking India’s most rigorous engineering entrance, getting admission into the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), and withstanding six years of non-stop academic pressure, mental stress, and placement worries.
The post states, “Studied 14 hrs a day to crack India’s toughest engineering exam, sacrificed home, friends, cousins, sleep, and dreams got into IIT, then struggled for 4+2 years with CGPA nightmares, lab viva trauma, and placement anxiety. Today? Not even 100 people know me.”

How Social Media Reacted
The user then contrasted his struggle with Apoorva Mukhija‘s success as reported by Business Today, observing how she created a Rs 41 crore wealth with Instagram reels and makes Rs 2.5 lakh per day. “Meanwhile… reels, red lipstick, semi-nudes, and openly abusing while using BC MC as filler can create Rs 41 crore empire. World’s truly fair,” it added. This contrast attracted criticism from numerous online users for setting two different career paths in contrast to one another.
One person wrote, “You prepared 14 hours a day for IIT, got selected, will earn a good job that’s what you pursued and got. Congratulations to you. She opted for fame, must have toiled hard for it and got what she pursued congratulations to her. Apples to oranges comparison is absurd. Reason of our misery.”
You studied for 14 hours a day for IIT, got selected, will get a good job – That’s what you chased & achieved. Kuddos to you.
She chose fame, must hv worked hard for it and got what she chased- kuddos to her.
Comparing Apples with Oranges is ridiculous. Reason of our misery. https://t.co/nmFAIwmdSy

One of the users highlighted the need for personal choice and stated, “I don’t even like that girl but you chose to study 14 hrs, cracked the most difficult exam, it was all your choice, you liked/wanted it. Similarly that girl is doing what she likes or wants. This isn’t a competition bro. Take a chill pill.”
I don’t even like that girl but you “choose” to study 14hrs, cracked the toughest exam, it was all your choice, you liked/wanted it same way that girl is doing. She is doing whatever she likes or wants. This isn’t a competition bro. Take a chill 💊 https://t.co/hWm0xG3eLc
