At the Mahakumbh, also referred to as the world’s largest gathering, vendors of all kinds are selling everything to the masses, including Shubham Prajapat, a social media content creator who chose to sell tea at the event. His astonishing claim of earning a Rs. 5,000 profit on a single day has left the internet reeling, with mass reactions.
Prajapat demonstrated in a video selling chai and bottles of water from a portable cart. He described his tea stall with a continuous flow of customers during the morning, but the afternoon was less busy, giving him some leisure time. At night, he roamed about the mela, selling even more chai, and ended the video by stating he sold Rs. 7,000 worth of chai within a day and made a profit of Rs. 5,000.

Social Media Users Estimates Chaiwala’s Monthly Earning
Social media reactions were mixed. Most were amazed by his business model, with one doing the math, “1 day = 5000, so 30 days = 150,000,” and another chiming in, “Rs. 1,50,000 ek month ka? “Some went so far as to compare him to ‘Dolly Chaiwala’, a viral tea seller from Nagpur.
Others also indicated that they wanted to do the same: “I think this can work for me too,” posted one, while another said, “Bro is inspiring me to leave study.”
Other news of a similar viral incident involved Monalisa Bholse, a vendor selling necklaces, who caught the attention on social media but had to reportedly leave Mahakumbh because the crowds were too much, even though viral popularity did not help her business.
