A five-year-old child sustained severe injuries after being run over by a car while playing in a residential society in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The incident, caught on CCTV, has raised serious concerns over safety and accountability in the community.

Incident Overview

On February 24 around 4:30 pm, a white Honda City entered the premises of SG Grand Society in the Rajendra Nagar Extension area of Ghaziabad. While the child was playing with other youngsters within the society, the vehicle struck the child with its front wheel, causing critical injuries. Although the accident was captured on the society’s CCTV, the driver, identified as Sandhya, fled the scene shortly after briefly stopping to check on the child.

The CCTV footage clearly shows the car entering the society and running over the child. Despite stopping momentarily to assess the situation, the driver quickly left the spot, leaving the injured child behind. The visual evidence has been crucial in piecing together the events leading up to and following the accident.

Injuries and Medical Response

The child suffered multiple injuries, including a fractured right thigh bone, and wounds on the right hand, left leg, and back. Miraculously, the child survived the incident and is currently receiving medical treatment at Atlanta Hospital in Vasundhara. The severity of the injuries has prompted swift action from local authorities and healthcare professionals.

Legal Action and Investigation

In response to the incident, the child’s father promptly filed a complaint at the Nandgram police station. A case has been registered under Sections 281 and 125B of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) against the woman driver. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident and the subsequent flight of the driver.

The accident has not only left a young life hanging in the balance but has also sparked concerns over the accountability of drivers in residential areas.
