In a bizarre case of revenge, a 25-year-old man from Nadia was arrested after sending 300 cash-on-delivery (COD) orders to his ex-girlfriend, a 24-year-old bank executive, over the span of four months. The woman, who works at a nationalized bank in Lake Town, was bombarded with unrequested parcels ranging from expensive electronics to small trinkets, leading to harassment complaints and her accounts being suspended by Amazon and Flipkart.

The woman, who had recently ended her relationship with Suman Sikdar, was forced to endure daily deliveries of items she never ordered. The deliveries, which included mobile phones, tablets, dresses, and Valentine’s Day gifts, caused embarrassment as she had to explain to delivery personnel why she was refusing the items. “All of them were cash-on-delivery products, and they ranged from tablets and mobile phones to dresses and small gift items. Throughout February, there were multiple deliveries of Valentine’s Day gifts and other products each day. I had frequent tiffs with delivery agents who negatively rated me, and when I took the matter up with the e-commerce platforms, they blocked my account,” the woman shared.

Sikdar, feeling wronged after their breakup, reportedly began sending the parcels as an act of revenge. He allegedly believed that his ex-girlfriend had left him due to his inability to afford the gifts she demanded. “The man confessed to making the parcel bookings and harassing her with texts and calls from unknown numbers. He said the woman loved online shopping and often demanded gifts from him, which he couldn’t afford. He was under the impression the woman left him for his inability to provide for her, and hence he started harassing her with the bulk delivery of parcels,” an officer from Bidhannagar Commissionerate explained.

The harassment continued until the woman could no longer bear the intrusion and filed a complaint with Lake Town Police Station last month. Sikdar was arrested and presented before a Salt Lake court on Wednesday, where he was granted bail. The woman has expressed relief after the situation was brought to a close but is still grappling with the social and financial consequences of the ordeal.

This case highlights the serious impact of online harassment and the growing risks associated with misuse of COD services. The police have urged citizens to report any similar incidents to prevent others from becoming victims of such bizarre acts of revenge.
