In a shocking move, Ed Sheeran surprised his fans in Bengaluru by giving an impromptu performance on Church Street on Sunday morning. The global music star started singing on the sidewalk, which immediately drew a crowd. However, as the crowd swelled, the Bengaluru Police stepped in.
The officers, unaware of the singer’s identity, told Sheeran to stop as there is no permit for him to perform. In a viral video, one of the officers was seen disconnecting Sheeran’s microphone while he was in the middle of performance.

Sheeran, who has arrived in Bengaluru for the scheduled concert, surprised fans by performing on stage. Although short, the gig generated much-needed buzz among Bengaluru’s music lovers.
Sheeran is a four-time Grammy Award winner and performed here on Sunday, and he is scheduled to do so again today at the NICE Grounds. The performances have generated massive excitement, with Sheeran making his city debut.
As part of his India tour, Sheeran will perform in Pune, Shillong, and Delhi NCR, but Bengaluru is the only city where he will perform for two nights back to back as there was an enormous demand for tickets.
Talking about his love for Indian audiences, Sheeran said, “Every time I come back to India, it feels even more thrilling. I had no idea my music was so strong back in 2014. I realized how much people truly enjoyed my songs during my visit in 2015. Today, it’s pretty clear that India is one of my biggest markets.”
