With the mania for Labubus now being a global phenomenon, sales for these soft toys have gone through the roof over the past few months. A short while ago, they sold for a few dollars but now they are a luxury product, courtesy of celebrities and social media phenoms.
If it’s flaunted as designer arm candy or employed by youth as a street fashion accessory, Labubu toys have undoubtedly become a fashion statement. Labubu is a creation of Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung and has been around since approximately 2015.
With this sudden surge in popularity, have you ever stopped to think if anyone would have envisioned Labubu dolls becoming so popular?
Collectors think that The Simpsons may have. A circulating video indicates that the classic animated show foreshadowed the trend and even suggested that the Labubu dolls would have dark energy.

Shared by Walt Motivates’ Instagram page, the video features one specific Simpsons scene in which the family is gifted with a creepy statue. Unaware of its actual nature, Homer begins to play with it to entertain his kid before becoming possessed. The subsequent scenes depict some creepy things happening in the room, hinting at an evil presence. The surprising twist? The statue’s name is Pazuzu—a rhyming name with Labubu.
While the statue in The Simpsons is not at all similar to a Labubu doll, the fan-edit clip created enough controversy.
Social Media Reactions
While some people are clearly swayed by the similarity, others hypothesized as to whether dark forces were associated with the popular toy.
One person exclaimed, “I freaking knew it!” and another posted, “I knew there was something wrong with this toy. Faces are weird and kind of dark.”
Another user commented, “Those figures have a darker meaning for something genuinely dark. Whether it was channeled or not.” Another added, “The Simpsons has even improved better than I recall.”

This viral video comes at a moment when Labubu dolls are already making unsettling correlations, as online conspiracy theories abound. Some self-proclaimed ‘spiritual advisors’ and influencers have even argued that the toys are imbued with malevolent energy.
One instance involved one of the Labubu dolls placed alongside an AI-generated photo of the Mesopotamian demon Pazuzu, with the implication that the soft toy could be a new demon in the form of cute presentation.
