Did Giorgia Meloni Really Tell PM Modi ‘I’m Trying To Be As You’ at G7? | VIDEO

A seemingly accidental encounter between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Canada, has become a viral hit, provoking universal reactions on social media. The summit had ended in the wee hours of June 18, but it was this spur-of-the-moment exchange between the two leaders that attracted social media’s attention.

The two prime ministers greet each other warmly in the since-viral video. While they exchange courtesies such as “I am fine,” a number of viewers online allege Meloni can be heard saying, “I am trying to be as you.” The clip went viral in rapid fashion across the platforms, eliciting both praise and suspicion.

The video was shared by several pages, with one named BALA captioning it: “You are the best. I am trying to be as you. Jalwa hai Modiji ka.” The text overlay on the video states, “PM Modi met Italian PM Giorgia Meloni at the G7 Summit in Canada.”

But the genuineness of the statement is doubtful. Times Now has not independently confirmed whether Meloni made those exact words. Therefore, netizens are split, some appreciated the dialogue as “wholesome,” others wondered if the video had been “edited.”

One of the viewers wrote, “This is not a Meloni comment. This is the truth, world leaders emulate Modi ji as a role model. They attempt to keep up with his energy and diplomacy.” Another chimed in lightheartedly, “Melodi moments.” Another question came from a doubtful user, “Is this edited or something?”

Adding to the excitement, Meloni posted a photo of the encounter on social media site X (ex-Twitter) with the caption, “Italy and India, bound by an extraordinary friendship.” Her post was responded to by Prime Minister Modi, who said, “Completely agree with you, PM Giorgia Meloni, Italy’s friendship with India will keep growing stronger, immensely benefiting our people.”

As the video continues to be shared, the comment or purported comment becomes the subject of fascination, with increasing online interest in spontaneous diplomatic moments caught on tape.
