Delhi Metro Panic After ‘Snake’ Spotted in Women’s Coach | Viral Video

A snake sighting within a Delhi Metro women’s coach caused panic and mass hysteria among commuters on Thursday night. The women shouted, leapt onto seats, and scrambled away from a suspected snake in a video that went viral online. The sensational footage spread rapidly on social media, sparking worry as much as bewilderment.

The incident is said to have occurred in the women’s coach, when passengers responded with fear, with some running up seats and others moving away from the supposed danger. Even though panic was evident, no snake could be evidenced in the going-around video.

DMRC Reacts Promptly, Evacuates Metro at Akshardham

After the commotion on social media, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) released a statement, explaining how events unfolded. According to DMRC, passengers alerted security when the train was evacuated at Akshardham Metro station.

“A video is going around widely in which even though the snake cannot be seen in the video, but it is being allegedly claimed that a snake was seen in a ladies coach,” said Anuj Dayal, corporate communications spokesperson of DMRC.

“The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) acted promptly when the alert came from the passengers inside the coach on Thursday evening. The train was emptied at the Akshardham Metro station and taken to the depot for a complete check.”

DMRC Finds Baby Lizard, No Snake After Full Check

Despite the panic and claims on social media, a complete inspection of the coach and CCTV footage by the DMRC team found no trace of a snake. However, officials did discover a baby lizard during the inspection.

“Although a careful scan of the train videos and bus at the depot by the concerned team failed to locate any snake, a baby lizard was spotted while inspecting,” the official statement further added.

DMRC reaffirmed its commitment to safety and called on passengers to be vigilant. “DMRC is committed to passenger safety and security, and immediately action was taken to resolve the issue. DMRC requests passengers to be careful and inform our officials about any such issues so that necessary actions are taken at the earliest.”

Netizens React With Jokes, Fear, and Sympathy

The video, posted by Instagram user Keerty Chauhan, went viral immediately and received more than 22,000 likes. People on social media responded with a combination of humor and worry.

“This is my new fear from now on. Like how did the snake even get there?” one of them wrote.

Someone else quipped, “Hey, he must be my boss. Be careful, if something is done to him, we will not get a salary.

But not all took the incident lightly. A commenter explained, “People feel that they are lucky to make jokes on women. They have every reason to fear like that. There is a snake inside the metro. That is not a joke at all from any perspective.”

A commuter who said she witnessed the commotion added, “I was in this metro and a lady reported that there was a lizard but afterwards someone spread false information and screamed about snakes.”
