The Dalai Lama on Saturday dismissed speculation going on for the declaration of his successor, saying that he wishes to keep serving people for another 30-40 years.

At a long life prayer ceremony organized in advance of his 90th birthday at Tsuglagkhang, the principal Dalai Lama temple in McLeodganj, Tenzin Gyatso revealed that he has ‘clear signs and indications’ of the blessings of Avalokiteshvara.

“Glancing at the numerous prophecies, I feel I have blessings of the Avalokiteshvara. I have done my best till now. I hope to still live for 30-40 years more. Your prayers have yielded fruit till now,” the Tibetan spiritual leader stated.

He also added, “Although we have lost our country and we are in exile in India, that’s where I have been able to do good to beings quite a lot. Those who live here in Dharamshala. I want to do good and serve beings as much as I can.”
