A shocking incident aboard Southwest Airlines Flight 733 from Houston to Phoenix on Monday has left passengers and authorities stunned. A woman, reportedly identifying herself as an astronaut and claiming to be bipolar, began undressing mid-flight, causing the aircraft to turn back to Houston’s Hobby Airport.
Chaos Onboard
Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene as the woman, in a state of apparent distress, started yelling and stripping naked in the aisle. Some passengers reported that she not only disrobed but also engaged in disruptive behavior by beating fellow travelers and harassing flight attendants, even pounding on the cockpit door. One passenger captured the entire incident on video, which quickly went viral, drawing widespread attention and outrage on social media.

Emergency Response
After the plane returned to the gate, airport staff attempted to cover the woman with a blanket to calm the situation, but she removed it immediately. Houston police subsequently escorted her off the aircraft and took her to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation. Southwest Airlines later confirmed that the flight was forced to return due to a “customer situation” and issued an apology for the disruptive behaviour.
Investigation Underway
No criminal case has been filed against the woman so far, as authorities continue to assess the situation. The incident has raised questions about in-flight safety protocols and passenger conduct, prompting calls for a review of procedures to better manage similar emergencies in the future.
