Veteran Bollywood actor Ashutosh Rana makes his grand theatre comeback after more than two decades with ‘Humare Ram,’ in which he essays the role of Ravan. The play, having done 160 shows all over India, is now ready to roll out a Mumbai run. Apart from this theatre comeback, Rana is also collaborating with Vicky Kaushal in ‘Chhaava’ and continues his stint as Colonel Luthra in Bollywood’s growing spy universe.
Comeback Of Ashutosh Rana
Since his final stage performance in 2001, Ashutosh Rana has fallen in love with theatre once again with ‘Humare Ram.’ Recalling the experience, he says, “It has been overwhelming. Theatre requires total presence, real-time connection with the audience, and being on the toes all the time. Unlike cinema, where the connection is indirect, theatre permits direct connection.”
Rana attributes theatre as the starting point of his acting career, highlighting its power to make an actor more aware and flexible. “With films, once a scene is done, it’s permanent. But in theatre, every performance is unique. That process is invaluable for an actor.”
Talking about his depiction of Ravan, Rana says, “If Lord Ram had to be born on earth to defeat someone, then that person must have been super powerful. Our play shows Ravan from another angle, demonstrating the thin line between knowledge and ego. Audiences will see a Ravan they have never seen before.”
Rana’s Remarks on Chhaava & Vicky Kaushal
Along with ‘Humare Ram,’ Rana is taking on another historical role for ‘Chhaava’ when he co-stars alongside Vicky Kaushal. He has all praise for the younger actor: “Young actors such as Vicky bring new enthusiasm. They keep me on my toes and make me want to learn and grow. He is one of the most honest performers of our generation.”
Bollywood’s Spy Role
Rana’s entry into the web of spying as Colonel Luthra has had a huge influence on folks. As a common character in movies starring stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Hrithik Roshan, he admits the job of making an impression.
“Each movie in the world of espionage has been a success, and the audience has accepted Luthra. It is an honor to share screen space with these legends, and even new actors like Alia Bhatt and Sharvari possess huge talent and dedication.”
Ashutosh Rana remains a successful name in the cinema among audiences of all mediums.
