The tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad continues to unfold with heartbreaking details, as the Civil Hospital confirmed that DNA matching has been completed for 92 samples, corresponding to 87 individuals due to duplication.

47 Bodies Handed Over To Families

Dr Rajnish Patel, Additional Medical Superintendent of Ahmedabad’s Civil Hospital, shared that 47 bodies have already been dispatched to various districts, including Ahmedabad, Kheda, Kota, Mahesana, Bharuch, Vadodara, Aravalli, Anand, Junagarh, Bhavnagar, Amreli, Mahisagar, and more. “Of the bodies brought to Civil Hospital, DNA matching of 92 (body remains) is completed, of this (the number of) individuals is 87 because there is duplication. 47 bodies have been dispatched from here,” said Dr Patel.

Crash Kills 241, Rupani To Be Cremated With State Honours

The London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed on June 12, moments after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, killing 241 out of 242 onboard. The lone survivor, Vishwashkumar Ramesh, a British national of Indian origin, is currently undergoing treatment.

The aircraft had slammed into a doctor’s hostel, killing 33 more individuals, including local residents and MBBS students on the ground.

Among the deceased was former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, whose mortal remains will be cremated in Rajkot today with full state honours. His body will be draped in the Tricolour, and 2,000 kg of flowers will be used to decorate the hearse van for his final journey.

British Expert On Site

A UK-based aviation expert visited the crash site but refrained from commenting in detail. “Maybe we will be able to speak later…We saw what you guys can see…It’s just the same, as you can see from here,” he remarked.

Authorities assured that all bodies will be handed over with full dignity and respect as identification and dispatch operations continue.
