Tension gripped the Basti Civil Court on Thursday, April 3, after a lawyer was publicly assaulted by two women near Gate No. 3. The shocking incident, caught on camera, has since gone viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage.
According to a Dainik Bhaskar report, the altercation stemmed from a heated phone call in which the lawyer allegedly verbally abused one of the women. Enraged by the exchange, she arrived at the court premises to confront him. The situation escalated when a second woman joined her at the scene, and what began as a verbal spat quickly turned into a physical confrontation.
Eyewitnesses reported that the two women launched an aggressive attack on the lawyer, even as fellow advocates attempted to intervene and defuse the situation. Despite their efforts, the women continued to lash out in anger. In the video clip circulating online, one of them is also seen shoving a bystander amidst the chaos.

Following the incident, the assaulted lawyer filed a formal complaint against the two women and has sought prompt intervention from the Bar Association. Meanwhile, Basti Police confirmed the registration of the case on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), stating, “The case has been referred to the concerned team for further investigation, and necessary action will be taken.”
In response, the Basti Bar Association issued a strong statement condemning the act of violence. The association stressed, “There must be strict action against the women involved. We must uphold the sanctity of court premises and ensure the safety of our members.”
The investigation is currently underway.
