US President Donald Trump has threatened to cut government support for Elon Musk’s companies. This came after Musk repeatedly criticized Trump’s massive spending bill.
On Truth Social, Trump claimed Musk heavily depends on federal subsidies. He wrote, “Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa. No more rocket launches, satellites, or electric car production, and our country would save a fortune. Perhaps we should have Doge take a good, hard, look at this? Big money to be saved!”
As a result, Trump’s warning targets major Musk-led firms like Tesla and SpaceX, which benefit from government aid.
Musk Attacks Trump’s Spending Proposal
Meanwhile, Musk has openly attacked Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill.” He argued that it would massively increase US debt.
According to the Congressional Budget Office, the Senate version of the bill would add $3.3 trillion over 10 years. That’s almost $1 trillion more than the House version.
In response, Musk criticized Republican lawmakers who supported the bill. He posted on X, “Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame! And they will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth.”
Musk Plans to Launch New Political Party
Furthermore, Musk announced he will launch a new party if the bill passes. He named it the “America Party.” He wrote, “If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day. Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a voice.”
Through this, Musk hopes to challenge both major US political parties.
Personal Attacks Escalate Tensions
Over the past few weeks, the Trump–Musk feud has intensified. Their rivalry became public last month through harsh online exchanges.
Most notably, Musk accused Trump of having links to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. This explosive claim deepened their already growing conflict.
