US President Donald Trump has once again criticized the BRICS alliance, warning countries that they could face a 10% tariff if they remain part of the group. He claimed BRICS was created to damage the United States and weaken the U.S. dollar, which he proudly called the “king.”

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Trump declared, “They have to pay 10 per cent if they are in Brics, because Brics was set up to hurt us, to degenerate our dollar, to take it off as a standard. That is okay if they want to play their game, I can play their game too. So anybody that is in Brics is getting a 10 per cent charge. If they, they’re gonna have to pay a 10 per cent tariff.”

Trump Warns of Consequences for Challenging the Dollar

He strongly criticized any attempt to challenge the dominance of the U.S. dollar. According to him, countries trying to push another currency as a global standard will suffer serious consequences. Trump said, “They are gonna have to pay a big price,” and added, “I don’t think any of them is willing to pay that price.”

Says BRICS Is “Mostly Broken Up”

Trump also downplayed the strength and unity of the BRICS alliance. He shared his belief that the group had already weakened, saying, “I thought BRICS was, and I said it a year ago, that it largely broke up, but a couple of them are still hanging around.”

BRICS Not a Real Threat, Says Trump

Although he accused BRICS of trying to destroy the dollar’s status, Trump dismissed the group as not being a major danger. He emphasized his confidence in the dollar’s strength and warned against any leadership that allows America’s global financial influence to slip. “We are not gonna lose the standard,” Trump assured.

Blames Biden for Risking Dollar’s Status

In his criticism of current U.S. President Joe Biden, Trump warned that weak leadership could result in America losing its position as the issuer of the world’s primary currency. He compared that loss to the aftermath of a devastating war.

“If you have a smart president, you’ll never lose the standard. If you have a president like the last one, you would lose it,” Trump stated. He continued, “If we lost the world standard dollar, it would be like losing a major world war. We would not be the same country. The dollar is king. We’re gonna keep it that way.”
