Two of Mexico City Mayor Clara Brugada’s senior aides were killed in a targeted assault, President Claudia Sheinbaum acknowledged Tuesday.
At her daily press conference, Sheinbaum said the attackers were probably on a motorcycle when the attack occurred. The authorities have initiated an investigation into the murders, which have raised alarm over security in the capital.
The attack contributes to mounting tensions around political violence as Mexico struggles with increasing crime rates.
