The Tel Aviv Consulate building of the United States was lightly damaged following Iran’s new round of missile attacks in Israel in the early hours of Monday, June 17. The attack, which is part of the escalating Iran-Israel conflict, had air raid sirens screeching through Israel.
Although the blast did not directly target the consulate, the shock waves generated had structural effect. US Ambassador Mike Huckabee confirmed that no American staff were hurt. But the Tel Aviv consulate and the Jerusalem embassy will be closed for the day as a precautionary measure.
Explosive Blast Hit US Consulate
The missile impacted close to the US Embassy Branch in Tel Aviv. Minor damage affected the adjacent consulate building by the blast’s force. Ambassador Mike Huckabee spoke on social media network X, stating that all staff were safe.
He tweeted, “Our US Embassy in Israel & Consulate will officially remain closed today as shelter in place still in effect. Some minor damage from concussions of Iranian missile hits near Embassy Branch in Tel Aviv but no injuries to US personnel.”

The announcement was made hours after the attack, seeking to allay anxiety over a direct assault on American facilities.
US Diplomatic Posts Closed for Safety
Both the US Consulate in Tel Aviv and the US Embassy in Jerusalem closed their doors for the day. The shut-down is precautionary as fighting rages into its fourth day. Staff has been told to stay indoors as conditions remain unstable.
The move is a testament to the intensity of the danger in the area and Washington’s desire to put staff safety first.
Fourth Day of War Sees Increasing Dangers
Iran’s missile attack is the fourth straight day of overt hostilities between Iran and Israel. The attack on Monday indicates Tehran’s ongoing offensive strategy. While the US is officially non-committal on the combat, the attack puts American diplomatic targets in range of military retaliation.
As both countries trade blows, the close proximity of US interests to the combat area becomes a fresh concern about escalation and protection. The area is becoming increasingly volatile with both Israeli and Iranian armies upping their game.
