A few social media updates mentioned that there was a recent shooting in Houma, Louisiana, although no confirmation has been issued so far. On Facebook, an individual posted, “Another shooting 12:34am- A disturbance with a Gun on Park Avenue in Houma. Scene is not secure yet. I didn’t catch the address.”
Another person posted, “Sending up prayers. Check on your kids I hear it had a shooting in Houma.”
The victimized unverified reports emerge just after one other shooting attack in Houma leads to the arrest of a 19-year-old suspect. According to a Facebook statement by the Houma Police Department, “On Sunday, June 15, 2025, at around 9:00 p.m., officers of the Houma Police Department were dispatched to Terrebonne General Medical Center after a victim presented himself with injuries from a shooting.”
In accordance with the same post, police found that a man victim was rushed to the hospital after being shot. An investigation found later on that 19-year-old Amad Vincent Jr. was the suspect.
Details of the Incident
“Initial investigation indicated the victim and Amad had a physical confrontation earlier in the evening on the west side of Houma. Sometime later, the victim was taken to a relative’s home of Amad on the east side of Houma. When the victim arrived, Amad allegedly opened fire on the vehicle, striking the victim,” the department further added.
The victim was subsequently transported to another hospital outside of the city and is receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
Charges Against the Suspect
Amad Vincent Jr. was taken into custody and charged with several offenses, including three counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder, one count each of Illegal Use of a Weapon, Possession of a Firearm by a Convict, Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property, and Simple Battery.
The department further added, “Amad was also booked on a valid warrant for Simple Burglary involving an unrelated incident within the city limits of Houma. He is at present being held at the Terrebonne Parish Jail on a total bond amount of $900,000.”
