President Donald Trump kicked off the countdown to America’s 250th Independence Day with lofty promises, hot political rhetoric, and an unusual announcement — a UFC championship bout on the grounds of the White House.

During a campaign-style rally in Iowa, his first since winning the Iowa Caucuses, Trump also marked the passage of his “big beautiful bill,” promised military expansion, and threatened Democrats with loss in the next midterms.

Trump Marks ‘Victory’ With Dance and Rally

Speaking to a crowd of jubilant supporters in Iowa, Trump asserted that America is experiencing a “winning streak like frankly nobody’s seen before in the history of the presidency.” Trump boasted that people had said to him that he would be “one of the greatest presidents ever,” even “better than Washington” and “Honest Abe Lincoln.”

Following his delivery of his signature “Make America Great Again” chant, Trump danced for a bit and executed a lightning-fast victory lap off the stage. “I think I have more power now,” he said earlier to reporters, before stepping onto Air Force One. “I think I probably do because we’ve had a great record of success.”

UFC on the White House Lawn?

One of the biggest news-making announcements was Trump’s intention to host a UFC bout on the White House lawn. “Think about it — on the grounds of the White House… 20,000 to 25,000 individuals,” he explained. “It’s going to be huge.”

The bout will be one of a series of activities celebrating the 250th anniversary, in addition to pro and amateur exhibitions, battlefield remembrances, and national park ceremonies.

‘Big Beautiful Bill’ and Missile Shield

Trump praised Congress’s recent passage of the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” a comprehensive tax cut and spending bill. “Each major promise I made to the people of Iowa in 2024 became a promise fulfilled,” he boasted. The bill provides money for his Golden Dome Missile Shield, which he said would safeguard America from Iranian missile retaliation. “You saw that the other day where the missiles are being shot down one after another,” he said.

He also praised the US pilots who bombarded Iranian nuclear installations last month and declared they would be feted at a bill-signing ceremony at the White House.

Sharp Words for Democrats

Trump also attacked Democrats for opposing the bill. “Not one Democrat voted for us,” he claimed. “Only because they hate Trump — but I hate them too.” Trump urged Republicans to use the Democrats’ rejection in the upcoming midterm elections and insisted they must beat them to redeem the country.

Military Pride, Global Power

Emphasizing the strength of his administration, Trump declared, “We have the best equipment anywhere in the world… and the best military anywhere in the world.” He also stated that countries such as China and Russia were “watching” and honoring US power.

With only a year to the July 4, 2026 celebration, Trump’s 250th anniversary plans mix patriotism, spectacle, and politics — all with his personal touch.
