Washington, D.C.: In a wide-ranging interview on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures, US President Donald Trump offered an optimistic outlook on US-China trade relations, stating the two countries are “getting along well.” He also took aim at former President Joe Biden, accusing him of creating a “trillion-dollar trade deficit” with China.

“Getting along with China is a very good thing,” Trump said, adding that “they are paying substantial tariffs.”

Positive Developments in Trade

Trump’s comments come shortly after the White House confirmed progress in trade talks with China. According to officials, both nations have agreed to ease retaliatory tariffs and accelerate the export of rare earth materials to the US — key resources for electronics and defense technologies.

The negotiations, held in Geneva this May, resulted in a temporary truce on high tariffs imposed during earlier trade battles.

Trump Slams Biden Over Deficit

Trump didn’t miss the chance to criticize Biden’s record, claiming:

“Biden let [the trade deficit] get up to a trillion dollars. Think about that—one country, a trillion dollars. We’re not going to let them take us to the cleaners anymore.”

He also reminded viewers that China relies on US-made airplane parts, suggesting that the US still holds powerful leverage in ongoing trade talks.

TikTok Deal in Progress

Trump further revealed that a TikTok acquisition deal is near completion.

“We have a buyer for TikTok. It’s a group of very wealthy people,” Trump said, noting that China’s approval may be required, and he expects President Xi Jinping to agree.

He did not name the buyers but said the announcement would come “in about two weeks.”
