Billionaire businessman Elon Musk, more active than ever on social media site X, made a surprising remark regarding United State President Donald Trump on last Friday. Tesla and SpaceX CEO penned on X drawing much public opprobrium: “I love Donald Trump as much as a straight man can love another man.”
Donald Trump Jr., Trump’s son, replied with laughing emojis, social media users bombarded the site with memes and jokes.
Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy used a White House press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba to question Trump on Musk’s statement. Doocy says, “Elon Musk says, “I love Donald Trump as much as a straight man can love another man.” What does the First Lady think of that?”
Trump nonchalantly laughed the question away. ” Oh, I think she will be okay with it….”. some way, he said, causing room laughter.
Musk’s Growing Influence in Trump’s Administration
Musk’s comment came just after he definitely became a major supporter of Trump. The billionaire has become more active politically since Trump came back to the White House, contributing more than $100 million to GOP causes, attending campaign meetings, and advising on major policy questions.
Individually, Trump and Musk have established themselves as a disruptive influence in Washington. Within weeks of taking charge, Trump has issued far-reaching presidential orders including those aimed at birthright citizenship and scaling back Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies.
Musk’s newly founded Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has also sparked debate. Lawmakers and oversight groups are worried about reports that the department has reached sensitive government files, including the federal payment distribution of Social Security checks. The last several words should be “Social Security checks.”
The comment took off fast and started to dominate discussions in political and technology circles.
Someone called it the “greatest bromance in history.”
Another joked, “Says a lot when you have to state ‘as much as a straight man’.”
Trump-Musk Collaboration Ends USAID Missions
Almost completely defunding of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is one of the most radical steps under the Trump-Musk partnership. Effective the administration has stopped almost all funding for international aid and development projects, stranding numerous staff and contractors on vacation or furlough.
Democratic legislators claim the overhaul even involved removing United States Agency for International Development computer servers. Critics contend that the action invalidates U.S. Supporters applaud it as a cost-cutting policy that gives domestic needs first.
Trump’s second term is revealing more and more Musk’s part in influencing policy, which is starting discussions about the power of billionaires in government.
