Elon Musk Apologises for ‘Going Too Far’ After Tesla Loses 0 Billion

Tesla CEO Elon Musk backtracked on his cutting social media insults against US President Donald Trump. Following a week of celebrity spats that lowered Tesla shares by $100 billion in market value, Musk apologized publicly. Some of his tweets “went too far,” he said, and he confirmed that he wishes he had not gotten involved in the online quarrel.

This is a change in tone after Musk previously called Trump’s impeachment and concurred with reports associating the president with Jeffrey Epstein. Their rivalry had spilled over to platforms such as Truth Social and X, attracting enormous public scrutiny.

Musk Publicly Apologizes for Trump Posts

On X, Elon Musk posted, “I regret some of my posts about President Donald Trump last week. They went too far.”

This follows a series of Musk’s deleted tweets. Among them was one where he accused Trump of being linked to Jeffrey Epstein. Musk quietly deleted that incendiary allegation two days after publishing it.

Earlier, Musk also supported a tweet proposing Trump be impeached and replaced with US Vice President JD Vance. He simply typed, “Yes,” when commentator Ian Miles Cheong tossed the proposal out.

Feud Began Over Spending Bill

Tempers flared when Musk bashed Trump’s spending and tax-cut bill. Elon Musk claimed the bill would exacerbate the national debt, which currently totals $36.2 trillion.

Trump remained quiet at first. But when Musk intensified his efforts to torpedo the bill, the president retaliated. He vowed to withdraw all federal subsidies and contracts for companies led by Musk, including Tesla and SpaceX.

The backlash spilled over to social media. Investors responded swiftly, and Tesla shares suffered a significant setback. Throughout the feud, the electric automaker lost about $100 billion in market value. Musk’s backtrack seems to be damage control—both political and financial.

Musk Eyes New Political Path

Even amidst regret, Musk signaled upcoming political aspirations. He posted a poll on X, querying followers whether America requires a new political party “that actually represents the 80% in the middle.”

Though the virtual battle may have been suspended, Musk’s intrigue about redefining US politics obviously hasn’t disappeared.
