Casino Collapse Continues: Buffalo Bill’s Becomes Third South LA Shutdown in Four Years

Buffalo Bill’s, one of the three establishments owned and run by Affinity Gaming in Primm, Nevada, will close on July 7. The Primm Valley Resort and the recently shuttered Whiskey Pete’s casino also belong to the company. This represents the third casino closure in the southern end of Los Angeles since 2020, including Terrible’s in Jean, which was formerly Goldstrike.

Social Media Breaks News of Shutdown of Casino

Las Vegas Locally broke the news on its social media page by writing, “The legendary Buffalo Bill’s Resort & Casino in Primm is closing next week, per @Vegas_Advantage. Everything is ruined.”

Raids by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) directed towards Hispanic communities residing in southern Los Angeles have been shaking the neighborhood over recent times. This has led to the people cutting down on leaving their homes for non-necessary tasks, a shift that has largely affected casinos like Buffalo Bill’s, which depended on these individuals as their primary customers.

Closure Linked to Immigration Raids and COVID Fallout

Since an official announcement for the closure has not been made by the company, business being disrupted due to immigration raids and the COVID-19 pandemic is mostly suspected to be the cause.

The final day for members to make reservations at Buffalo Bill’s will be July 6. After that, every other day has been blacked out on the calendar by the company, and the system automatically shows the customer a message to attempt to book a room at the Primm Valley Resort.

Possible Temporary Reopenings During Festival Season for Casino

The next bookings available at Buffalo Bill’s can be a four-day weekend in November. The hotel and casino could be reopened during that time to accommodate the overflow of customers traveling into the city for a festival in nearby Goodsprings, Nevada. The casino floor will possibly reopen on a temporary basis on concert nights at Primm. After closure, the closest concert is on August 30.

Primm Valley Resort to Continue Operations

The Primm Valley Resort will still have slots and video poker alone, as all the table games, electronic table games, restaurants, and the hotel closed in December 2022. The Bonnie & Clyde cars that are displayed now at Buffalo Bill’s food court will be relocated to the Primm Valley Resort after closure. Affinity Gaming recently invested in a huge remodeling of the Primm Valley Resort to drive more business and made some game changes as well.

After this shut-down, Primm Valley Resort will be the only casino running close to the California state line on Interstate 15.
