Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke over the phone for 35 minutes with US President Donald Trump on Wednesday, during which he made it clear that India’s counter-terror operation, Operation Sindoor, continues unabated.
Informing the press following the high-level conversation, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated, “President Trump and Prime Minister Modi spoke for about 35 minutes today. During the conversation, Prime Minister Modi told President Trump that India would respond to Pakistan’s bullets with shells. He emphasised that Operation Sindoor is still underway.”

No Trade Talks While Terror Looms: Modi
During the call, Prime Minister Modi firmly asserted that India will not participate in trade negotiations while counter-terror operations are ongoing.
“Prime Minister Modi made it clear to President Trump that India would not engage in any trade negotiations amid ongoing terrorist threats, and that India’s fight against terrorism would continue,” Misri said.
Modi also recalled President Trump of his previous talk with US Vice President JD Vance on May 9, where Vance had cautioned India about a possible attack by Pakistan. In response, India moved quickly on the evening of May 9–10, conducting a counterattack that reportedly destroyed Pakistani military installations.
The Prime Minister disclosed that Pakistan subsequently asked for a ceasefire via direct military links, admitting the success of India’s response.
India Dismisses Third-Party Mediation on Pakistan Matters
Modi firmly rejected any proposal of third-party mediation in the telephone conversation with Trump.
He said that India never accepted, and will never accept, foreign intervention in issues related to Pakistan. “There was no talk or role of the United States in any mediation,” he informed Trump, reiterating India’s established diplomatic policy.
Subsequently, at the G7 Outreach Summit in Canada, PM Modi asked world leaders to come together against terrorism, as he criticized nations that employ selective methods to fight it.
“There should be no place for double standards on terrorism. The terrorist attack that happened on 22nd April was not only an attack on Pahalgam, but also on the soul, identity, and dignity of every Indian. It was an attack on the entire humanity,” Modi asserted.
