OpenAI’s ChatGPT experienced a major global outage on June 10, 2025, affecting users worldwide. Reports indicate that access to the AI chatbot was severely disrupted, leaving many unable to log in or receive responses.

Surge in Problem Reports at ChatGPT

Based on Downdetector, user reports spiked just before 3 PM IST, with a total of more than 1,100 reports. Statistics showed that 93% of the reports directly referred to ChatGPT, 7% referred to the OpenAI app, and 1% referred to login issues. Reports had started rising at 2:45 PM IST and hit a peak at 3:02 PM IST. Before this sudden surge, ChatGPT had been working without significant hiccups for the last 24 hours.

Users Complain of Mistakes Across Platforms

The users flocked to social media platforms such as X (formerly Twitter) to report their experiences. Most shared screenshots are of empty chat windows, partial responses, server errors, and loading failures. Others said they were getting repeatedly logged out or stuck in a loop to log in, while others complained that their chatbot sessions froze, resulting in lost work and conversations.

ChatGPT Still Not Responding

Up to this writing, OpenAI has yet to release an official statement on the reason for the outage. The company’s service status page is still the same, with no updates confirming the disruption. The problem seems to be hitting free-tier and ChatGPT Plus subscribers from various regions.
