Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding weekend has begun in earnest. Sightings of the likes of Tom Brady, Orlando Bloom, the Kardashians, and even Oprah arriving in Venice, Italy, to party the week away with the couple were rumored on Thursday, and if you thought the guest list was over-the-top, details regarding the design of the contentious union are poised to be just as (if not more) lavish as well.
Jeff Bezos and Sánchez: One of the World’s Wealthiest Couples
Bezos is estimated to be worth $231 billion and Sánchez an estimated $30 million. One of the wealthiest couples on the planet, it stands to reason that their wedding day will be, shall we say, a big one. While the details of the event are being kept under lock-and-key, here is what we do know:.
Wedding Invitations Leak Online Ahead of Ceremony
Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding invitations were leaked to the public earlier this week, just before the couple’s celebrity wedding celebrations were about to kick off. The invitations appear DIY-ed, but less handmade and more cut-and-paste images in Paint on a desktop computer. The one-sided invitation is decorated with pictures of butterflies, doves, and shooting stars, plus a gondola boat under what seems to be the Ponte di Rialto (a popular bridge in Venice). No specifics about the time and location of the wedding except for Venice are mentioned; however, the two individuals do state that, in lieu of gifts, donations will be given to the UNESCO Venice office, CORILA, and Venice International University on their behalf.
A Gatsby-Inspired Theme with Couture Flair
We still have not much to work with in the way of design inspiration, but Vanity Fair says the wedding kickoff was Gatsby-inspired—both as a tribute to the 100th anniversary of the book and in line with the theme of so over-the-top, A-list an event. If we can judge the couple’s wedding invitations, we may be able to anticipate a bright color scheme and fanciful nature motifs. As another potential clue, Sánchez amazed in an off-the-shoulder Schiaparelli couture gown at yesterday’s welcome bash, covered in blue-and-green floral embroidery.
The Ceremony Set for June 27 in “La Serenissima”
The Amazon founder and journalist will be exchanging vows in “La Serenissima,” the most tranquil city, in a days-long spectacle. As reported by The Associated Press, the wedding ceremony is set to be held on June 27th, 2025, on Friday. The location of the ceremony is not yet specified, but it is more likely that it will be conducted on San Giorgio Maggiore, which is one of the islands of Venice and where there is the stunning Church of San Giorgio Maggiore (a monument), built by architect Andrea Palladio during the 1500s.
Local Artisans Tapped for Jeff Bezos Wedding
The names of the wedding vendors are yet to be made public. Yet, most of the vendors are said to be Venetian vendors, such as Venetian bakeries and Murano glasssmiths.
By reports from CNN, Bezos and Sánchez initially intended to hold a post-wedding party in the 14th-century Grande Scuola Misericordia, an ancient building in central Venice. The imposing venue is 26,000 cubic metres on two levels, has modern and ancient architecture, and has the largest event hall in the heart of Venice. The celebrations have been relocated to a shipyard on the outskirts of Venice because of protests.
Reception to Be Held at Historic Venetian Shipyard
According to The Associated Press, the reception for Bezos and Sánchez will take place in the Arsenale. It is a World War I Venetian shipyard and armorie but still utilized by the Italian Navy today, providing security and seclusion for the couple and their wedding guests. Huge tents have been erected around the area to shield drones and paparazzi.
Three Italian hotels are participating in the Bezos-Sánchez wedding, Realtor.com reports: The Aman Hotel (seen above), Hotel Ciprani, and The Gritti Palace. The Aman Hotel features its Canal Garden, which overlooks the Grand Canal, its candlelit banquet hall, and grand suite with gold ceilings and art murals.
Hotel Ciprani was built by US architect Peter Marino and features a heated outdoor pool, a spa, a children’s club, a private marina, and Michelin-star restaurants. The five-star Gritti Palace also appears the part with breathtaking panoramic views of San Giorgio Maggiore, Punta della Dogana, and Santa Maria della Salute Basilica running out to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection.
