Vice President of the United States, JD Vance arrives at Palam airport for his first official visit to India. He will meet PM Modi today. He is being accompanied by Second Lady Usha Vance, their children, and senior members of the US Administration. Upon arrival, Vance received a formal welcome at 10:00 a.m. Today evening, he will meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 6:30 p.m. at Modi’s official residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg.
Personal Moment Before Departure
Before boarding AF2, Vance shared a heartfelt moment with his family. He was seen gently lifting his daughter, Mirabel, from their car while she slept. Meanwhile, his sons, Ewan and Vivek, waved toy swords playfully as they boarded with Second Lady Usha Vance.
Travel Itinerary in India
After his meeting with Prime Minister Modi, Vance will visit Jaipur on Tuesday. On April 23, he will travel to Agra. His visit will conclude on April 24 when he departs from India at 6:40 a.m.
Warm Reception in India
India has already started preparing for Vance’s arrival. Hoardings welcoming him have been set up in New Delhi’s Chanakyapuri diplomatic area and near Palam Airport.
Strengthening India-U.S. Bilateral Ties
Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), highlighted the Comprehensive Strategic Global Partnership between the U.S. and India. Jaiswal explained that such visits ensure that all relevant issues will be discussed at the highest levels. He expressed confidence that the visit would further strengthen the bilateral ties between the two nations.
“This is an Official Visit. He will be meeting the Prime Minister. And with the United States of America, we have a Comprehensive Strategic Global Partnership. So, when you have that level of partnership with any country, obviously you will discuss all relevant issues,” Jaiswal said during a media briefing.
He added, “And with America, with the United States, of course, our relationship is such that we are doing anything that is part of human endeavor… forms part of our bilateral engagement. So, all these issues, bilateral issues will be discussed. And we are very positive that the visit will give a further boost to our bilateral ties.”
