Iranian military leader Mohsen Rezaei, who is also a senior member of Iran’s National Security Council, has claimed that Pakistan has promised to use nuclear weapons against Israel if Israel ever launches a nuclear attack on Iran.
Bold Statement on State TV
Rezaei made this surprising statement during an interview on Iranian state television. He said, “Pakistan has assured us that if Israel uses a nuclear bomb on Iran, they will attack Israel with a nuclear bomb.”
However, no Pakistani official has confirmed this claim or made any public comment about using nuclear weapons against Israel. The statement remains unverified by Islamabad.
Relations Between Iran and Pakistan Warming
Earlier this year, in early 2024, Iran and Pakistan engaged in a short but tense missile exchange. Since then, both countries appear to have made efforts to repair diplomatic ties.
Now, according to Rezaei, Pakistan stands in support of Iran and has urged greater unity among Muslim nations.
Pakistani Defence Minister Urges Muslim Unity
On June 14, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif addressed the National Assembly. He urged Muslim-majority countries to form a united front against Israeli actions.
He stated, “Israel has targeted Iran, Yemen, and Palestine. If Muslim nations don’t unite now, each will face the same fate.”
Asif also called on Islamic countries that have diplomatic ties with Israel to cut off those relationships immediately. He urged the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to meet and come up with a joint plan of action.
Iran’s Hidden Capabilities
Rezaei also claimed that Iran holds classified military capabilities that the world is unaware of. However, he did not provide any details or evidence.
Ongoing Israel-Iran Conflict Causes Heavy Casualties
Meanwhile, the conflict between Israel and Iran has escalated. On Friday, Israel launched multiple airstrikes across Iran, targeting both military and nuclear facilities.
In response, Tehran fired back, starting a series of retaliatory attacks. These back-and-forth strikes have led to significant casualties on both sides.
High Death Toll on Both Sides
According to Israeli authorities, at least 13 people have died and over 370 have been injured due to Iranian missile attacks.
On the other hand, Iran’s health ministry reported 128 deaths and nearly 900 injuries since the beginning of Israel’s air raids.
