Indian Army Foils Major LoC Infiltration Bid in Rajouri, Captures Pak Guide

It was a big victory for Indian forces, as an important attempt at infiltration through the Line of Control (LoC) in Gambhir sector of Rajouri district was prevented on Sunday. Indian Army, assisted by Border Security Force (BSF), arrested a Pakistani citizen who was serving as the guide to heavily equipped Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists.

Infiltrators attempted to enter India via thick jungles and hilly areas, but alert troops staged a rapid counter-infiltration exercise. The arrested person, Mohammad Arib Ahmed of Kotli district of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), has provided vital information regarding the involvement of Pakistan Army.

Timely Intelligence Led to Operation

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, Indian troops launched a well-coordinated counter-infiltration operation in Rajouri’s Gambhir sector. Troops noticed suspicious movement by four to five armed individuals. These terrorists attempted to exploit poor visibility and rugged terrain to breach the LoC.

However, the aggressive surveillance posture of Indian Army paid off. Alert personnel intercepted the movement and engaged in a decisive operation. During this action, they captured one individual alive.

Arrested Guide Connected to Pakistan Army

The arrested individual was found to be Mohammad Arib Ahmed, son of Mohammad Yousuf, a local of Detote in Nikiyal, PoK. In initial interrogation, Arib admitted he was working under direction from Pakistan Army officials deputed at forward postings.

He also ascertained that the infiltrators were JeM terrorists. They had warlike material such as weapons, ammunition, and other incriminating materials. This strongly indicated a planned and sponsored attempt to infiltrate.

JeM Terrorists Wounded & Compelled to Retreat

The operation compelled the remaining four infiltrators to withdraw under intense pressure. Inclement weather and dense jungles assisted them in fleeing back across the LoC. They probably got injured in the exchange, though.

A subsequent search operation resulted in the retrieval of a mobile phone, Pakistani currency, and other sensitive materials. These are being analyzed.

Interrogation Provides Important Intel

The arrested guide is now undergoing intensive questioning by a joint intelligence team. Officials are obtaining valuable information that will serve to further tighten the counter-infiltration grid along the LoC.

The successful action of the Army not only thwarted a fatal incursion but revealed the still active support role of Pakistan’s army in assisting terror organizations.
