Vijayamma disputed claims that YSR divided his assets among his children while he was alive. She explained, “YSR had transferred some assets to my younger daughter, Sharmila’s name, and some to my son, Jagan’s name.” She insisted this was not dividing assets but simply allocating them.

She affirmed that her late husband, YSR Rajasekhara Reddy, wanted his children to have equal shares. “Jagan worked hard to grow our assets, but all assets belong to the family,” she maintained.

CM Jagan Reddy Sustains an Injury in a Stone-Pelting Incident

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was injured on Saturday evening when his convoy came under attack with stones during an election rally in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.

A group of troublemakers began throwing stones at the CM’s bus during the rally, causing injuries to him and another individual. Reddy sustained a cut on his left eyebrow from the impact.

According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the stone struck Reddy while he was acknowledging the crowd during his bus tour at Vivekananda School Centre in Singh Nagar, Vijayawada. The stone appeared to have been propelled at high speed, possibly from a catapult, prompting those around him on the bus to initially tend to his injury with a handkerchief.

The chief minister received first aid from a doctor inside the bus promptly after the incident. Despite the attack, he continued his campaign in the city, canvassing for nearly four hours.

Leaders from the YSRCP accused the TDP of orchestrating the attack. Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished the Chief Minister a speedy recovery via his social media account.

BRS leader K.T Rama Rao condemned the attack, emphasizing that violence has no place in democracy. YSRCP leader Hafeez Khan also denounced the incident, attributing it to the TDP’s inability to accept the overwhelming support for CM Jagan during his campaign.

Reddy has undertaken a 21-day election campaign bus tour from Idupulupaya in Kadapa district to Icchapuram in Srikakulam district. Elections for the 175-member Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh are scheduled for May 13, with vote counting set for June 4.

CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy released Rs 395 crore

Under the Jagananna Thodu scheme Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday released Rs 395 crore which will provide interest-free loans through banks. “It is a matter of pride for the state that because of the scheme, the state has sanctioned over 24 lakh loans out of the total number of 39.21 lakh loans given in the entire country,” Reddy said. However, around Rs 10,000 in interest-free loans will be given benefitting around 3.95 lakh traders and artisans.

CM Reddy holds a review meeting to check COVID preparedness

A letter has also been written to the centre and asked to reduce the gap for administering a ‘precautionary dose’ from the existing nine months to six months. Over the death of the renowned actor Ghattamaneni Krishna Congress president, Mallikarjun Kharge expressed his condolences on Tuesday.

Due to his immense fan following Ghattamaneni Krishna was also known as Andhra’s James Bond.

Veteran actor and Mahesh Babu’s father Ghattamaneni Krishna passed away on Tuesday in Hyderabad.

Moreover, Ghattamnaneni Siva Rama Krishna Murthy was admitted to Continental Hospitals after he suffered from a heart attack in Hyderabad at 1:15 am.

‘India’s biggest scam’: YSRTP chief alleges corruption in Telangana’s Kaleshwaram irrigation project

YS Sharmila, YSR Telangana Party president and sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, on Friday alleged corruption in Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project in Telangana and described it as “India’s biggest scam’.

Sharmila alleged embezzlement of a major part of the money invested in the Rs 80,500-crore project. Addressing a press conference, Sharmila said, “I am here to highlight the biggest scam in India. The Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project scam is bigger as it is not just virtual money but also physical money that has cost the exchequer. The tune of money involved is Rs 1.2 lakh crore.”

She further claimed that the idea of the irrigation project was her father’s, YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s. “The Kaleshwaram Project was the brainchild of my father but it has been distorted in every form. Of the Rs 1.2 lakh crore invested in this, around Rs 1 lakh crore came from central financial institutions. We met CBI Director and he assigned a DIG rank officer to look into the corruption” added Sharmila.

In June, 2019 Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao inaugurated the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project in Bhupalpally district, labelled as the world’s largest multi-stage lift irrigation scheme. The project has been mired in controversy since its inception.

In August 2019, Congress MP from Bhongir, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleging a scam of “thousands of crores of rupees” in executing the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project.

Reddy had demanded a detailed inquiry and urged PM Modi to stop the work immediately and prevent the misuse of the huge amount granted by the Government exchequer. He also requested to call out the tenders to execute the work with transparency.

In October 2020, the National Green Tribunal held that the environmental clearances granted to the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project in Telangana were in violation of the law and directed to constitute an expert committee to assess the extent of damage and identify the necessary restoration measures.

The Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation (KLIP) Project was constructed by Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL). KLIP is the costliest irrigation project taken up by a state till date. It is designed to benefit farmers in the districts of Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Warangal, Medak, Nalgonda and Ranga Reddy.

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy elected YSRCP president for a lifetime

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was elected the lifetime president of Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress (YSRC) on Saturday. This decision came on the concluding day of the YSRC’s two-day plenary.

Earlier in the day, Party’s Parliamentary Party Leader Vijayasai Reddy said that Jagan Mohan Reddy would remain the party president for a lifetime.

“Support for YS Sharmila is required in Telangana at this time… our present party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, will be made lifetime president of YSRCP. In this plenary, a proposal was mooted,” Reddy said.

On Friday, YS Vijayamma, mother of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, said that she is considering resigning from her honorary post of president of YSRCP as, at present, she needs to help her daughter YS Sharmila in Telangana.

“When he (YS Jagan Mohan Reddy) was in trouble, I was with him; now he is happy here. My daughter (YS Sharmila) is fighting alone; if I don’t support her, it will be injustice…I am telling you all about this, and I request all to forgive me,” Vijayamma added.

Notably, in 2011, after quitting the Congress party, Jagan established the YSRC. Furthermore, in 2023, assembly polls will be held in Telangana.
