</excerpt>

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Tuesday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other prominent BJP leaders, including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Assam CM Hemant Biswa Sarma, of engaging in social polarisation and spreading “communal venom” for political purposes. Ramesh, who is also the Congress General Secretary in-charge for Communications, alleged that the BJP’s sole agenda revolves around dividing society to fuel communal tensions.

Polarisation as BJP’s Primary Agenda

Ramesh’s statement came amid ongoing election campaigns in Jharkhand and Maharashtra, where he claimed BJP leaders were resorting to polarisation tactics in a bid to distract from their political failures. He said, “The election campaigning of our non-biological PM, HM, and others in BJP in Jharkhand and Maharashtra clearly shows that they are baffled and scared. They have not been able to recover from the results of the 2024 elections. The only agenda of PM Modi, Amit Shah, Yogi Adityanath, and Assam CM is social polarisation. Massive polarisation. Spread enmity, create communal tension, and spread communal venom.”

Ramesh added that while the Congress-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance in Maharashtra focused on issues such as farmers, women, youth, and social justice during their campaigns, the BJP had chosen to focus solely on polarisation. In Jharkhand, he noted, the INDIA alliance, including Congress and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), was highlighting its roadmap for the next five years, particularly focusing on Adivasis, SCs, STs, OBCs, and other marginalized groups.

Congress Pushes for Census to Ensure Social Justice

Ramesh also criticized the BJP for backtracking on conducting a caste-based census, which he said is essential for addressing social justice issues. “I would like to tell the PM that when you have the census, only then will you be able to go forward. What is the basis of social justice? Census. Why are they backtracking on the census? If you don’t have caste survey, caste census, how would you deliver social justice?” he remarked.

Elections in Jharkhand and Maharashtra

As the election process unfolds, Phase 1 of the Jharkhand Assembly elections began on Tuesday. The second phase of Jharkhand’s elections, along with the Maharashtra Assembly elections, will take place on November 20, with results scheduled for November 23.

</excerpt>

The political climate surrounding the Kanwar Yatra heated up on Friday after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath mandated that all eateries along the Yatra route in the state must display the owners’ names. This directive follows a similar order issued by the Muzaffarnagar Police on July 18.

Muzaffarnagar Police Directive

On Wednesday, Muzaffarnagar Police issued an order requiring eateries, including hotels, dhabas, and carts, along the Kanwar Yatra route to prominently display their owners’ names. This order aimed to avoid confusion and ensure transparency among the public, as stated by the Senior Superintendent of Police.

Opposition’s Reaction

The directive has faced substantial backlash from the Opposition, with leaders drawing stark comparisons to “Nazi Germany.” Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav and AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi criticized the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government for creating communal disharmony. Congress’ Priyanka Gandhi also condemned the order, calling it a “crime against the Constitution” and demanded its immediate withdrawal along with strict action against the responsible officials.

Additional Criticism

Leaders from the Janata Dal (United), part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance, also voiced their concerns. KC Tyagi pointed out that a similar Kanwar Yatra in Bihar does not have such an order, suggesting that the UP directive contradicts Prime Minister Modi’s spirit of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’. BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi warned against creating communal confusion, stating that such confusion is detrimental to any country, community, or humanity.

BJP’s Defense

Despite the criticism, the BJP defended the directive. UP Minister Kapil Dev Agarwal emphasized the necessity of the guidelines to maintain the sanctity of the Yatra, citing issues with non-vegetarian eateries during this period. He argued that the transparency created by these measures was essential.

Haridwar’s Similar Directive

In alignment with UP’s directive, Haridwar, governed by the BJP, issued a similar order for shops, restaurants, hotels, dhabas, and street vendors on the Kanwar Yatra route. Haridwar Senior Superintendent of Police Pramendra Dobhal noted that disputes often arose due to the lack of proprietor names on shops. To address this, the Haridwar police would verify all establishments and push for the names of proprietors to be clearly displayed, with QR codes also mentioning the same.

This new directive and the ensuing political reactions highlight the ongoing tensions and varying perspectives on how to manage religious events and communal harmony in India.

</excerpt>

Even as BJP is brainstorming to find reasons of electoral setbacks in two important states, Rajasthan and UP, there is speculation of changing the Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath. The saffron party has for the time being put an end to these rumours and Yogi Adityanath is unlikely to be disturbed in the foreseeable future.

According to sources, the BJP high command has decided to grant CM Yogi autonomy in decision-making, including managing upcoming by-elections for 10 seats. There will also be a focus on enhancing coordination between the government and the party organisation. Additionally, a change in the state president’s position is expected to target the Opposition’s support base among backward communities, Dalits, and minorities (PDA).

In a strategic move, the BJP is considering appointing a Dalit or someone from the backward classes as the new state president instead of Bhupendra Chaudhary, aiming to bolster the organisation. Party’s national president JP Nadda held individual meetings with Bhupendra Chaudhary and Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Tuesday night.
Bhupendra Chaudhary met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday and gave his report on the elections. Meanwhile, CM Yogi held a meeting in Lucknow and formed a team of 30 ministers for the by-elections to be held on 10 seats. The Deputy Chief Ministers were, however, conspicuous by their absence in the meeting. A series of meetings has been going on both in Lucknow and Delhi.

The party had suffered a major setback in the Lok Sabha elections in the major states of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The party lost 29 seats in UP and 11 seats in Rajasthan as compared to 2019. The total number of the seats lost in these two states is 40, denying BJP majority on its own in the Lok Sabha.

At the same time, during his seven-year tenure, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath faced an unexpected setback, which caught many by surprise and provided ammunition for his political opponents to criticise his style of functioning.
Despite Yogi’s popularity, some of his opponents tried to undermine him through various media campaigns. However, the BJP’s Central leadership effectively countered these efforts, thwarting attempts to tarnish Yogi’s reputation.

In the lead-up to the general elections, Opposition leaders, particularly Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party and Delhi chief minister and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal targeted Yogi. They held press conferences in Lucknow, seeking to convey a narrative that suggested the public sentiment in Delhi was against Yogi’s leadership in Uttar Pradesh.
Political analysts believe that this concerted strategy by the Opposition succeeded in sowing confusion among BJP workers and supporters. It played a role in the BJP’s electoral setback, influencing voter perceptions during the crucial election period.

BJP has two potent challenges in Uttar Pradesh. One is to find a solution to the Ppposition’s PDA and the other is to fix the infighting. Following the election results, the BJP’s high command has taken a serious note of the social media coverage concerning former state president and deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya. Maurya’s remarks during the post-election review meeting emphasizing party unity above personal interests. This sparked discussions about replacing CM Yogi. However, the BJP lacks a viable alternative to Yogi in Uttar Pradesh.

Additionally, the opposition’s successful PDA strategy targeting backward, Dalit, and minority communities, the pressure on the BJP has increased in Uttar Pradesh. Therefore, supporters of Keshav Prasad Maurya have grown hopeful of his potential candidacy, recalling his previous consideration as state president before Yogi Adityanath assumed leadership following the 2017 election victory.

Despite Maurya’s defeat in the 2022 assembly elections, With the BJP’s weakened performance in the recent Lok Sabha elections, supporters of Maurya have intensified their efforts. Maurya’s name is now being considered for leadership roles at both the state and national levels. However, to maintain stability and avoid giving leverage to the Opposition, Yogi Adityanath is likely to continue as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

The BJP faces a challenge in identifying a suitable alternative to Yogi in Uttar Pradesh. Sources indicate strong backing for Yogi Adityanath from both the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Therefore, Yogi will remain the CM. There will be a reshuffle in the organisation and the cabinet. It remains to be seen whether it will happen now or after the elections of three states to be held this year.

During the session, the Chief Minister listened to the concerns and issues raised by the people, addressing them comprehensively.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who is on a visit to Gorakhpur, assured support for those facing housing problems through government schemes, ensuring a resolution to their accommodation challenges. He emphasized that adequate financial assistance would be provided for the treatment of serious diseases and affirmed the government’s commitment to addressing concerns related to illegal land occupation by taking strict legal action against land mafias.

The Janata Darshan, held in the auditorium of Mahant Digvijaynath Smriti Bhawan at Gorakhnath Temple complex, showcased an intimate interaction between the Chief Minister and the people seeking redressal. In one instance, a woman expressed concerns about her housing situation, and upon learning that she did not receive a pension, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath promptly assured her assistance. He committed to arranging her pension, providing a house, and issuing a ration card, instructing officials to take swift action to resolve her issues.

During the session, many individuals sought financial assistance for the treatment of serious diseases. The Chief Minister assured them that substantial help would be provided through the Chief Minister’s Discretionary Fund, directing officials to expedite the estimation process for treatment-related expenses.

Expressing affection for children attending Janata Darshan, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath blessed them, distributed chocolates, and encouraged them to focus on their studies. The interactive session reflected the Chief Minister’s commitment to addressing the grievances of the people and providing swift and effective solutions to their problems.

</excerpt>

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh jointly inaugurated the country’s first Girls’ Military School in Vrindavan on Monday.
Dedicating the Samvid Gurukulam Girls Military School in the Vatsalya Gram campus, established by Sadhvi Ritambhara, to the daughters of the country, CM Yogi stressed the need for bringing out the society of the conservative mindset.

In his address, CM Yogi said that Mission Shakti is a wonderful example of daughters’ safety, respect and self-reliance. “A strong society is not possible without the protection of women power, their respect and self-reliance. For this we all will have to work together. Society will have to be brought out of its conservative ideology.” The Chief Minister also targeted the opposition on the occasion and remarked, “Those who were hesitant in going to Ayodhya are now complaining about not receiving the invitation to attend the consecration ceremony at Ram Temple.”

He also said that it should be the resolve of every citizen to make India a developed country by 2047.
It is worth mentioning here that the Girls’ Military School will impart military training along while following the CBSE curriculum. The school has 120 seats. A written examination will be held on January 21, which will be followed by e-counselling of successful candidates and preparation of the merit list. The session will start from April with three batches of girls. Apart from CBSE education, military education, sports and obstacle training will also be provided to the daughters by ex-servicemen or NCC.

Expressing his gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Defence Minister, CM Yogi said that they have given permission for the admission of girls in Sainik Schools. “The tradition of Sainik Schools in the country started in Uttar Pradesh in 1960 when Dr. Sampurnanand ji was the Chief Minister. Dr. Sampurnanand ji had established the first Sainik School of his country in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. I got the opportunity to visit Sainik School, Lucknow in 2017, in the capacity of the chief minister, who is the chairman of the school. There, I came to know that girls were not admitted to that school. So, I said that from the next session girls should also be admitted to the school. We started this programme there in 2018. Sainik School Lucknow has also been fortunate that the highest medal of service to the country, Param Vir Chakra, has been awarded to one of its students, Manoj Pandey, who attained martyrdom while protecting the country in the Kargil war.

Our government named Sainik School Doctor of Lucknow after Captain Manoj Pandey.”
CM Yogi added that today Sainik School is bringing army discipline to young boys and girls, which will help the country move forward and make the world realize the power of India. “When 140 crore Indians in one voice will take up the task of protecting India’s honour, pride and glory, no power on earth will be able to stop them. Our responsibilities may vary but wherever we are we have to we have to work with the resolve to increase India’s prestige globally.”

CM Yogi said the priority of every citizen should be nation first, followed by religion, family and self. “If all Indian work with this feeling, we will definitely achieve the goal of a developed India set before us by Prime Minister Modi by 2047”, he asserted.
CM Yogi also administered several oaths to the people on the occasion, including setting themselves free from servile mentality, work towards making India developed and taking pride in heritage while staying united and performing civic duties.

CM Yogi stated further: “We have always known that Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple Movement was going on in Ayodhya and Vishwa Hindu Parishad was providing leadership to this movement under the guidance of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and revered saints. At that time we all used to say that the people of India themselves would resolve the issue of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi. The day every follower of Sanatan Dharma will shout Jai Shri Ram in unison, the path to Shri Ram’s birthplace will automatically be paved.”

Referring to the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 30, CM Yogi emphasized the transformation of Ayodhya that has taken place in the recent years. He remarked: “Earlier, the roads were poor and there was a single rail line. Today, we have provided four-lane connectivity from all sides. Four-lane and six-lane roads will be available not only outside Ayodhya but also inside. A visit to Ayodhya post January 22, will remind you of Treta Yug. Thousands of years ago, Lord Ram came to Ayodhya by Pushpak Viman, and now the International Airport has also been inaugurated in Ayodhya. The railway line has been connected with a double line, which has been inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi himself. Besides, five-six new stations are being developed in and around Ayodhya.”

CM Yogi said that the government has started efforts to connect Ayodhya through waterways also after having connected it through road, rail and air. Taking a jibe at the opposition, he said that those who used to shy away from visiting Ayodhya, or even mentioning its name, are looking forward to getting invitations to visit the city. This change has come over because you realised your power.”

Adityanath emphasized the importance of Ayodhya, where 178 schemes worth over Rs 30,500 crore are already running.

During the meeting, 14 key proposals were discussed, including the establishment of an Inland Waterways Authority at the state level. The Chief Minister announced the Winter session of the UP Assembly, commencing on November 28 for a week. Earlier, Adityanath and his cabinet colleagues visited the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir construction site, Hanumangarhi Temple, and offered prayers at the site of Ram Lala Virajman. UP Police had tightened security and deployed the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in the temple town.

The meeting’s timing coincided with the anniversary of the temple’s foundation stone laying and the Supreme Court’s decision in 2019. The cabinet discussions focused on development initiatives and preparations for the upcoming Deepotsav celebrations. The meeting anticipates the consecration of the Lord Ram idol on January 22, 2024, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and seers participating.

</excerpt>

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday accused the Congress of opposing the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya in the past and said that if Congress had wanted to build the temple, it could have built it in 1947 itself.

Speaking at an election rally in Khategaon, Madhya Pradesh, CM Adityanath remarked, “The Congress could have built the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya in 1947. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel had wanted it, but the Congress leadership rejected it.” He further noted that the Congress consistently opposed the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, even going so far as to question the existence of Lord Ram. He suggested that a party claiming to be the oldest one should not be allowed to dismiss the heroes and symbols of inspiration.

Yogi Adityanath’s comments come in response to Congress’s Madhya Pradesh chief Kamal Nath’s statement that the BJP cannot take full credit for the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Kamal Nath also mentioned that former Prime Minister and Congress leader Rajiv Gandhi had “got the locks opened” at the temporary Ram temple on the disputed Babri Masjid site in 1986 to allow Hindus to worship there.

CM Yogi further alleged that during a time when the nation faced significant challenges from Naxalism, terrorism, and corruption, the Congress leadership was more focused on one family than on national concerns. He argued that Congress and problems have become synonymous terms.

Madhya Pradesh is one of the five states scheduled for elections in one phase on November 17, with vote counting set for December 3. Voters will choose legislators for the state’s 230 Assembly constituencies.

In a relief to the Airports Authority of India, the Supreme Court on Tuesday changed its order and permitted AAI to expand the air terminal traffic in the Agra runway strip and develop another terminal in Agra.

A seat headed by Judge Sanjay Kishan Kaul passed the bearing while at the same time hearing an application moved by the Airports Authority of India. AAI has moved an application through advocate Ashwarya Sinha. In the application, the Airports Authority of India has looked for a change of the court’s previous order dated 11 December 2019, by which the court has coordinated the Centre not to allow any activity to build the air terminal traffic in the Agra runway until the next orders.

Considering the developing need to increment air traffic, the Airports Authority of India has looked to change the prior order.
AAI, in its application, said that the administration after believing in the UDAN-RCS Plan alongside different variables proposed the advancement of the New Civil Enclave at the existing Civil Enclave to provide state-of-the-art facilities to passengers and boost the tourist inflow in the city.

“That the new enclave having a building area of 30,000 sq. mtr. is proposed on the area which falls inside the geographical limits of the Taj Trapezium Zone. That the proposed area is free from all encumbrances and has been transferred by the Government of Uttar Pradesh to the Applicants,” AAI said in its plea.

AAI presented that the top court vides its structure dated 4 December 2019 and 11 December 2019 has previously allowed consent for the development of the New Enclave Territory.
The candidate explained that regardless of the approval previously allowed by the Court to build the New Territory, the AAI can’t develop the said New Considerate Area as the ban put upon the increment of air traffic by the Court makes the whole undertaking infeasible, and non-viable.

The notion of “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas” was inspired by the principles and rule of Lord Ram, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is currently in Ayodhya for the Deepotsav celebrations.
The Rajyabhishek of the symbolic Bhagwan Shree Ram was done in Ayodhya by the prime minister on the eve of Diwali.

Addressing the gathering here, PM Modi said, “Shri Ramlala’s ‘Darshan’ and then ‘Rajyabhishek’ of King Ram, this good fortune is obtained only by the grace of Lord Ram. When Shri Ram is consecrated, the ideals and values of Lord Rama become firm in us. Lord Ram is the inspiration behind Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas – he took everyone along, and did not leave anyone behind,”

The Prime Minister claimed that the nation developed the “Kartavya Path” in order to honor Lord Shri Ram’s leadership and forge India’s identity on the international stage based on his “Kartavya Bal” teachings.

“Lord Rama is called Maryada Purushottam. Maryada teaches us to have respect and to give respect. And Maryada is the realization is the duty itself. Ram does not leave anyone behind. Ram does not turn his face away from duty. Ram, therefore, embodies the spirit of India, which believes that our rights are self-evident by our duties. This Deepawali has come at a time when we have completed 75 years of independence. ‘Sankalp Shakti’ of Lord Ram will take India to new heights,” he added.

The Prime Minister came in Ayodhya today to participate in the Deepotsav festivities. Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, and Anandiben Patel, the governor, welcomed him.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, “Deepotsav of Ayodhya started six years ago with the guidance and inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This festival of Uttar Pradesh became a festival of the country. Today, it is touching new heights of success.”

On Sunday, after arriving in Ayodhya, PM Modi visited the Shree Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra site. In Shri Ram Janmabhoomi, he prayed to Lord Ramlala Virajman.

Ayodhya will be covered in a profusion of domestic and foreign flowers during the Deepotsav, which is breaking all previous records.
To make the Deepotsav 2022 even more stunning, rangolis made of flowers are adorned at every crossroads in Ayodhya. Earthen bulbs have been artistically arranged along the banks of the river Saryu in a design that will be lit as soon as dusk falls.

Ayodhya’s security has been stepped up in anticipation of the Prime Minister’s arrival.
The Yogi Adityanath administration will promote “Dhobia” and “Faruwahi” dancers in addition to the state’s spiritual and religious significance through the organisation of “Deepotsav.”
Sixth-generation “Deepotsav” celebrations got underway on Sunday morning with the presentation of sixteen magnificent tableaux based on scenes from the Ramayana in the sacred city.
Jaiveer Singh, the minister of tourism and culture, signalled the beginning of the themed tableaux that were carried from Udaya Intersection to Ram Katha Park in Ayodhya.

 The flood situation in eastern Uttar Pradesh is still not under control as several rivers including Saryu and Rapti continue to swell even on the sixth day.

At a time when the flood situation is reeling in the state, the District Magistrate of Ambedkar Nagar has made an insensitive statement. A video went viral in which the DM is heard saying that the government is not running “Zomato” to provide door-to-door service or relief materials to people in the flood-hit areas. The official addressed the flood-affected people in Ambedkar Nagar and said, “…If you need, you will be provided with chlorine tablets, and a doctor will come to see when one falls sick, this is the reason why flood posts (baadh chowki) are established. We are not running any Zomato service, the government is not running Zomato,” The DM asked the flood-affected people in the locality to collect relief materials.

Zomato is an Indian food delivery company which provides door-to-door food service. The statement came considering the feast timings of people in the flood-affected area. Addressing the people here, he asked them to fix their time so that the food could be prepared accordingly.

“Firstly, you all prepare a time for feast at the flood post, then as many people would be present in the morning, the food for the same number of people can be prepared in the evening,” he said mentioning that the persons whose name is mentioned in the list are not even available here.

This occurred as the inhabitants’ homes began to be affected by the flooding.
Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, issued a warning to the government to be on high alert on September 18 in response to an increase in the water level of the Kuano river at Chandradeep Ghat.
Yogi Adityanath presided over a high-level conference earlier this week where it was decided to speed up the relief and recovery efforts in all the districts hit by the heavy rains. CM Yogi also gave the order for Joint Magistrate level personnel to oversee the District Control Room’s operation 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

CM Yog, in view of the possible threat of the floods,instructed the officials of Gonda, Basti, Ambedkar Nagar, Sant Kabir Nagar, Gorakhpur, Azamgarh, Deoria, Mau, Ballia, and Ayodhya to be on alert.
