Yogi Govt Bans Meat Sale Near Religious Sites for Navratri

<excerpt>Ahead of Chaitra Navratri, the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has ordered the closure of illegal slaughterhouses and banned meat sales within 500 meters of religious places. Special restrictions will be imposed on Ram Navami, completely prohibiting animal slaughter and meat sales.
</excerpt>

The Uttar Pradesh government, under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath, has directed immediate closure of all illegal slaughterhouses and banned the sale of meat within 500 meters of religious places before the nine-day Chaitra Navratri festival. Besides, the government on Sunday also announced a complete ban on the slaughter of animals and the selling of meat on April 6, which is Ram Navami day, to preserve religious sanctity.

As per a statement made by the UP government on Saturday, Principal Secretary (Urban Development) Amrit Abhijat has instructed all District Magistrates, Police Commissioners, and Municipal Commissioners to make these orders effective forthwith. The orders, which were given in 2014 and 2017, have now been made stronger to preserve religious sentiments and maintain law and order during the festival.

District-Level Committees to Monitor Implementation

For enforcing stringent compliance, the government has established district-level committees with chairpersons from respective District Magistrates. The committees have members from various departments such as Police, Pollution Control Board, Animal Husbandry, Transport, Labour, Health, and Food Safety Administration. Authorities have been directed to initiate punitive action against offenders under the UP Municipal Corporation Act (1959) and the Food Safety Act (2006 and 2011).

Chaitra Navratri, a major Hindu celebration of Goddess Durga, will begin on Sunday, March 30, and end with Ram Navami festivities on April 6. The celebration sees extensive fasting and worship among Hindu believers, and enforcing the same constraints is hence a priority for the government.

Shiv Sena Leader Demands Shut Down of Roadside Non-Veg Stores in Mumbai

At the same time, in Mumbai, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam has asked local authorities to close roadside stalls selling meat, fish, and mutton during Navratri. Following a meeting with Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sachin Gunjalay (Zone 10), Nirupam stressed that restaurants can keep serving non-vegetarian food, but open meat stalls must be closed as a gesture of respect for religious sentiments.

From tomorrow, holy festival Navratri will begin. A lot of Hindu devotees will fast and pray to the goddess. At such a time, Shawarma stalls are available on the streets in Mumbai, and non-veg is served there. This is injuring Hindu sentiments,” ANI quoted Nirupam as having said.

Enforcement of these restrictions is proof of the government’s dedication to religious harmony and ensuring that sentiments of the devotees are not hurt during the auspicious festival of Navratri.

But controversy erupted when supporters displayed UP CM Yogi Adityanath’s posters, sparking debate over political interference.
</excerpt>

In a dramatic twist in Nepal’s political landscape, thousands gathered in Kathmandu on Sunday to welcome former King Gyanendra Shah, igniting fervent calls for the reinstatement of the monarchy. However, the rally took an unexpected turn when supporters were seen brandishing posters featuring Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, sparking controversy and heated debate both within Nepal and on social media.

Gyanendra’s Triumphant Return

Former King Gyanendra Shah, deposed amid massive protests in 2006 and officially ousted in 2008 when Nepal transitioned to a secular republic, made a symbolic comeback on Sunday. Over 10,000 supporters converged near the main entrance of Tribhuvan International Airport to welcome him, chanting slogans such as, “Vacate the royal palace for the king” and “Come back, king, save the country.” Many Nepalese, disillusioned by years of political instability, economic struggles, and rampant corruption, voiced their desire to restore the monarchy as a remedy for the nation’s woes.

Thir Bahadur Bhandari, a rally attendee, told the Associated Press, “We are here to give the king our full support and to rally behind him all the way to reinstating him on the royal throne.” Meanwhile, others like 50-year-old Kulraj Shrestha admitted that previous protests to abolish the monarchy had failed to deliver a stable government, prompting a shift in public sentiment.

The Yogi Adityanath Controversy

Amid the pro-monarchy fervor, an unexpected element emerged: posters of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were prominently displayed by some rally-goers. One man, identified as Pradeep Bikram Rana, who waved these posters in Kathmandu, later fled to Gorakhpur, fearing persecution by Nepalese police. Rana claimed he idolized Adityanath as a symbol of Hindu pride, which led him to promote the Indian leader’s image at the rally.

This act has divided opinions. Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli condemned the use of foreign imagery in national protests, arguing that Nepal should not rely on external figures to guide its political discourse. Critics, including Oli’s supporters, suggested that the presence of Adityanath’s posters indicated an “India hand” behind the rally, casting doubt on its authenticity. In response, pro-monarchist supporters accused Oli’s government of orchestrating the controversy to undermine the movement.

Pro-monarchist Rastriya Prajatantra Party spokesperson Gyanendra Shahi claimed on social media that the UP CM’s photo was deliberately displayed under the instruction of Bishnu Rimal, chief advisor to Prime Minister KP Oli. Former minister Dipak Gyawali echoed similar sentiments, dismissing the need for a foreign figure in their procession.

Historical Ties and Cultural Connections

The controversy is further complicated by historical ties between Yogi Adityanath and Nepal’s erstwhile monarchy. Adityanath is associated with the Gorakhnath mutt, which has long enjoyed a close relationship with the Shah dynasty. Notably, former King Birendra once revered Mahant Avaidyanath—Adityanath’s mentor—as his spiritual guide, with Birendra even visiting the Gorakhnath Mutt in 1992.

What This Means for India-Nepal Relations

This latest incident comes at a time when India and Nepal share a long and intricate relationship, marked by both cooperation and conflict. The unexpected display of Adityanath’s image at a rally in support of Nepal’s former king has raised concerns about foreign interference and its potential to strain bilateral ties. While some Nepalese see it as a benign symbol of shared cultural heritage, others view it as an unwanted intrusion that could deepen political divides.

As Nepal continues to grapple with internal challenges and the call for a return to monarchy grows louder, the controversy over Adityanath’s posters remains a flashpoint that could impact regional dynamics and the longstanding relationship between India and Nepal.

He emphasized faith in Sanatan Dharma and assured devotees of the government’s commitment to safety and support.
</excerpt>

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath strongly condemned baseless allegations and misinformation campaigns against Sanatan Dharma, Maa Ganga, and the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. Speaking on Wednesday, he asserted that spreading fake videos and propaganda against the sacred event was an insult to the faith of millions who have participated in the holy dip.

He further dismissed concerns about water quality, insisting that the Sangam’s water is not only suitable for taking a dip but also safe for drinking. His remarks came after the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) reported faecal coliform levels at certain locations in Prayagraj, suggesting potential contamination in the bathing waters. However, Yogi Adityanath termed these concerns as an attempt to malign the grandeur of the Maha Kumbh.

CPCB Report Raises Concerns Over Water Quality

Earlier this week, the CPCB informed the National Green Tribunal (NGT) that water samples collected from multiple sites in Prayagraj did not meet primary standards for bathing due to high faecal coliform levels. Faecal coliform bacteria, found in the intestines of humans and animals, indicate potential contamination and the presence of harmful pathogens.

Despite these findings, CM Yogi remained firm in his stance, dismissing allegations that could tarnish the image of the religious event. He highlighted the government’s commitment to ensuring clean and safe water for devotees and accused certain groups of attempting to spread unnecessary fear.

CM Yogi on Maha Kumbh Stampede and Devotee Turnout

Addressing the UP Assembly, Yogi Adityanath emphasised that the Maha Kumbh is a societal event, not linked to any particular party or organization. He stated that his government was privileged to be associated with this once-in-a-century event, which has drawn global participation and immense success despite attempts to derail its reputation.

With seven days remaining in the Maha Kumbh, the chief minister revealed that over 56 crore devotees had already taken a holy dip in the Sangam. The massive turnout reflects the deep-rooted faith of pilgrims and the event’s significance on a global scale.

Condolences for Stampede Victims

Offering condolences to those affected by the stampede on January 29, Yogi Adityanath expressed sympathy for the victims and their families. He also acknowledged those who lost their lives in road accidents while traveling for Kumbh. He assured that the government stands with the affected families and will provide all possible assistance.

However, he criticized the politicization of the tragedy, urging opposition leaders to refrain from exploiting such incidents for their agendas. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring safety and smooth operations for the remainder of the grand event.

As the Maha Kumbh nears its conclusion, the Yogi government continues to counter misinformation while ensuring the smooth execution of one of the world’s largest religious gatherings.

</excerpt>

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while addressing a felicitation ceremony at the Gorakhnath Temple, highlighted the profound impact of Sanatan Dharma on global humanity. He praised the tradition for its commitment to individual freedom and openness, asserting that no other tradition offers the same level of liberty and freedom.

Sanatan Dharma’s Freedom and Openness

Yogi Adityanath pointed out that Sanatan Dharma neither imposes its beliefs on others nor restricts individual freedom. He emphasized that it is a global tradition that promotes liberty, making it a unique foundation for humanity across the world.

Historical Significance of Sanatan Dharma

In his address, Adityanath recalled the history of Sanatan Dharma, noting that despite numerous challenges, it has survived and thrived thanks to the divine tradition of avatars, seers, and sages. He referred to the revival of Sanatan Dharma by Adi Shankaracharya, who through his Vijay Yatra and debates established the four mathas that continue to protect and nurture the tradition.

Honoring Jagadguru Shankaracharya

During the ceremony, Adityanath welcomed Jagadguru Shankaracharya Vidushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam of the Sringeri Sharada Peeth with ceremonial gifts. He spoke about the Gorakshpeeth’s historical connection to Sringeri Peeth and its role in promoting spiritual and cultural unity.

A Vision for Unity: The Maha Kumbh and Beyond

The Chief Minister also discussed the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, describing it as a global message of unity. With millions of devotees attending, Adityanath emphasized that this event exemplifies the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat,” resonating with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for national unity.

In addition, he acknowledged the recent developments in Kashi Vishwanath Dham and the Ram temple in Ayodhya, crediting Prime Minister Modi’s leadership for transforming these sacred sites.

He also visited Akshayvat and Bade Hanuman Temple, strengthening India-Bhutan cultural ties.
</excerpt>

Bhutan King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck visited the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj on Tuesday and take a holy dip at Triveni Sangam, which is the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati. His visit becomes a significant cultural and spiritual moment that further enhances the ties between India and Bhutan.

Accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Bhutanese King performed religious rituals before entering the waters. He performed ‘arghya’ to the Sun, a sacred Hindu practice, before immersing himself in the confluence.

The Bhutan King reached the airport wearing traditional Bhutanese attire but later changed to a saffron-colored kurta and pajama for the holy water bath. He was accompanied by Uttar Pradesh cabinet ministers Swatantra Dev Singh and Nand Gopal Gupta. Vishnuswami sect leader Jagadguru Santosh Das Maharaj, also known as Satua Baba, was there during the rituals.

An official statement highlighted that the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh personally led the King of Bhutan through the purificatory bath and other religious rituals at the Triveni Sangam.

The government said, “This is an important step in taking bilateral relationships to a deeper plane of friendship and cultural exchange between two countries.”

Bhutan-India Diplomatic Ties Get Stronger

King Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema had previously visited Delhi in December 2024. Earlier in March 2024, Bhutan conferred its highest civilian honor, the ‘Order of Druk Gyalpo,’ upon Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in recognition of his contributions to strengthening bilateral ties.

The Maha Kumbh 2025 has seen an overwhelming response from devotees. By noon on Tuesday, more than 54 lakh devotees had taken a dip in the sacred waters. Since the festival commenced on January 13, over 37.50 crore pilgrims have participated in the holy event, according to official data.

The Maha Kumbh, the world’s largest religious gathering, will culminate on February 26.

Authorities struggle to manage the overwhelming crowd surge.
</excerpt>

A pre-dawn stampede at the Sangam area of the Maha Kumbh on Wednesday morning claimed the lives of at least 30 people and left 60 others injured. The incident occurred as millions of pilgrims gathered to bathe in the sacred waters of the Ganges during Mauni Amavasya, one of the most significant days in the Hindu calendar.

Crowd Surge Triggers Stampede

The tragic stampede took place between 2:00 and 2:30 am when an unprecedented crowd of devotees, eager to take a holy dip, surged towards the Sangam nose. This overcrowding left little space for people to exit, and chaos ensued as pilgrims jostled for space. The Mela administration, overwhelmed by the sheer number of people, struggled to manage the situation.

Eyewitness Accounts Point to Sudden Surge

According to witnesses, the tragedy occurred when pilgrims, hoping to perform the ‘Amrit snan’ at the auspicious 3 am hour, caused a sudden crush at the Sangam. The area, which had started filling up by 7:35 pm on Tuesday, was packed by 2 am. The increasing pressure of the crowd led to barricades breaking down, contributing to the chaos.

Amrit Snan Postponed, Resumed Later

Following the stampede, the traditional bathing ritual of akharas was delayed but resumed later in the afternoon. Devotees continued to bathe at the Sangam and other ghats along the Ganges, though the crowds had thinned by then.

Details of the Tragedy Revealed

In the evening, Maha Kumbh DIG Vaibhav Krishna confirmed the death toll and injury count. He attributed the incident to the overwhelming pressure of the crowd that broke through the barricades. As the barriers fell, many people were crushed underfoot. At least 90 people were taken to the hospital, with 30 confirmed dead.

Victims Identified, Including Those from Other States

The authorities confirmed that 25 of the deceased had been identified. Among the victims were four from Karnataka and one each from Assam and Gujarat.

</excerpt>

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has described “Sanatan Dharma” as the “national religion” of India, emphasizing its universal appeal and connection to humanity. Speaking at the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj on Sunday, Adityanath said, “Sanatan Dharma is the national religion of India. It is the religion of humanity. While the process of worship may differ, the core religion remains the same.”

He added, “The Maha Kumbh symbolizes Sanatan Dharma’s essence, representing unity and inclusivity beyond caste or religion.”

Massive Participation in Maha Kumbh 2025

Highlighting the massive turnout, Adityanath said that nearly six crore devotees have taken a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and the now-extinct Saraswati rivers meet. According to an ANI report, over 11 crore devotees have participated in the sacred event during its first 14 days.

Akhilesh Yadav Takes Holy Dip at Maha Kumbh

Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav also visited Prayagraj and took a holy dip at the Maha Kumbh on Sunday. Speaking to reporters, he said, “People come here with faith. I took 11 holy dips and feel blessed. Events like these are about unity, not divisive politics.”

Spiritual and Cultural Significance of Maha Kumbh

Rooted in Sanatan Dharma, the Maha Kumbh Mela is a historic event that signifies a celestial alignment creating an auspicious period for spiritual cleansing and devotion. It is believed that taking a holy dip at the Sangam absolves sins and grants moksha (liberation). This year’s event is expected to host over 45 crore visitors, marking a monumental occasion in India’s spiritual and cultural history.

</excerpt>

Yogi Adityanath and Arvind Kejriwal engaged in a heated exchange, with the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister calling Delhi a “garbage dump” and accusing the AAP government of failing to provide essential services. Adityanath alleged that Kejriwal had turned the holy Yamuna river into a “dirty drain,” labeling it a “sin.” He challenged him to take a dip in the Yamuna with his ministers, stating, “Yesterday, I along with all my ministers took a holy dip at the Sangam in Prayagraj… I want to ask Kejriwal whether he can bathe in the Yamuna in Delhi along with his ministers.”

Kejriwal quickly retaliated, criticizing Adityanath’s governance in Uttar Pradesh, particularly the condition of government schools. He remarked, “His government has been in power for more than 10 years, he has not been able to fix the government schools.” Offering help, Kejriwal said, “We will teach Uttar Pradesh how to fix government schools,” and pointed out that the BJP, which Adityanath represents, has a poor track record in all 20 states under its rule.

This verbal clash comes ahead of the Delhi Assembly polls scheduled for February 5. Adityanath’s rally in Delhi was seen as an effort to bolster the BJP’s prospects in the election. However, Kejriwal’s sharp rebuttal signals that the AAP is prepared to counter BJP’s criticisms.

Adityanath’s comments on Delhi’s infrastructure and services also highlighted the contrasts between the two states. While Delhi grapples with issues such as pollution, poor roads, and inadequate public services, Uttar Pradesh faces similar, if not more significant, challenges.

Initially planned to be held at the Mela Authority Auditorium, the meeting was shifted to Triveni Complex to avoid disruptions to pilgrims. This marks the second time the Yogi Cabinet has taken a dip during the Kumbh, following a similar visit in 2019. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also visited the Maha Kumbh and took a holy dip last week. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu will be visiting the Mela in February. </excerpt>

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Japanese delegation, led by Kotaro Nagasaki, Governor of Yamanashi Prefecture on Monday. The event took place in Lucknow, marking an important milestone in the growing relationship between India and Japan.

Strengthening Economic Ties

CM Yogi emphasized the increasing economic cooperation between India and Japan. He spoke in Japanese to underline the significance of their shared economic strengths.

“India and Japan are major economies. The state government is eager to work with Japanese companies. Moreover, economic ties between our nations are strong. Uttar Pradesh has unlimited potential. After this MoU, our relationship will become even stronger,” CM Yogi said.

A Historic Relationship

The signing of these MoUs is a key moment in the long-standing partnership between India and Japan. Both countries share a “Special Strategic and Global Partnership,” which has deep cultural and spiritual roots. This bond dates back to 752 AD when Indian monk Bodhisena consecrated a Buddha statue at Todaiji Temple in Nara.

The Impact of Indian Figures in Japan

Over the years, Indian figures like Swami Vivekananda, Rabindranath Tagore, and Subhash Chandra Bose have played an important role in strengthening the relationship. Notably, Justice Radha Binod Pal’s dissenting opinion at the War Crimes Tribunal left a lasting impact on the Japanese people.

Growing Indian Presence in Japan

Furthermore, the Indian community in Japan continues to grow, particularly in IT and engineering sectors. In Tokyo’s Nishikasai area, more than 40,000 Indians live, earning it the nickname “mini-India.” Among them are 282 students pursuing advanced degrees. In addition, Japan is home to over 150 Indian professors and 50 research visa holders, further boosting cultural and academic exchanges.

A Bright Future for India-Japan Relations

Overall, the MoU signing is part of a broader effort to strengthen India-Japan ties. Both nations are committed to expanding cooperation in various sectors. This agreement is just the beginning of an even stronger partnership in the future.

</excerpt>

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi has titilated Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath by carrying a ‘Palestine’ labelled bag to the parliament on Monday. On Tuesday she was seen carrying ‘Bangladesh’ labelled bag which also garnered quite a bit of media attention.

These political statements cannot be taken lightly when it is coming from the largest opposition in India. And Yogi, who is considered next in line for prime minister for many political analysts in India has spoken up against this politics of Priyanka, saying “Palestine” written on it saying Uttar Pradesh is sending youth to Israel, while Congress is carrying a bag.

Yogi on Tuesday slammed Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for carrying this bag. Speaking in the assembly, he said, “A Congress leader was roaming around in the Parliament carrying a bag with Palestine written on it, while we are sending the youth of Uttar Pradesh to Israel. More than 5600 youth of UP have gone to Israel for construction work so far. Every youth is getting free accommodation and food, a salary of Rs 1.5 lakh per month and complete security is also guaranteed.”

A row erupted on Monday when Priyanka Gandhi was seen carrying the bag during a Parliament session. The bag had “Palestine” written on it and several emblems embedded in it, including a watermelon, a symbol which is often associated with Palestinian solidarity.

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday slammed BJP remarks on her carrying a bag with “Palestine” written on it, terming them “useless things.”

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that the BJP-led central government should take some steps regarding the atrocities happening in Bangladesh, against minorities and Hindus.

“The atrocities happening in Bangladesh, against minorities and Hindus…something should be done regarding this. Talks should be held with Bangladesh govt regarding this…and they should not say such useless things” Vadra told reporters.

Since October 2023, Israel-Palestine has been engaged in an ongoing conflict after Hamas attacked Israel and captured its citizens.

Also read: Over 500 Cyclists Join Fit India Cycling Drive’s Sustainability, Pollution-Free Living Mission in Delhi

According to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs, India has strongly condemned the terror attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023 and the loss of civilian lives in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.

India’s policy towards Palestine has been long-standing and consistent. India has supported a negotiated two-state solution, towards the establishment of a sovereign, independent and viable State of Palestine within secure and recognized borders, living side by side in peace with Israel, as per the MEA.

</excerpt>

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, addressing the state Assembly on Monday, strongly asserted that the cultural traditions of Lord Ram, Krishna, and Buddha will endure in India, while the legacies of Babur and Aurangzeb will eventually fade away.

His remarks came amid a heated debate concerning the Opposition’s concerns over communal tensions arising from Hindu rallies passing through Muslim-dominated regions like Sambhal and Bahraich.

Yogi Adityanath’s Statement

In his address, Yogi Adityanath criticized the Opposition for suggesting that slogans and rallies in certain areas could incite violence.

“The traditions of Lord Ram, Krishna, and Buddha will remain in India, while Babur’s and Aurangzeb’s legacies have no place in this land,” the Chief Minister declared.

He emphasized that India’s roots are deeply connected to its cultural and spiritual heritage, represented by revered figures like Lord Ram, and not by foreign rulers like Babur.

Opposition’s Concerns

The Opposition had raised concerns over the perceived provocations caused by Hindu religious rallies and slogan chanting in sensitive areas. They alleged that such actions might trigger communal unrest.

Key Concerns Raised:

Processions passing through Muslim-dominated areas.

Potential risks of violence and instability.

Yogi Adityanath’s Response

Rejecting the Opposition’s claims, Yogi Adityanath stressed the importance of maintaining peace and order while upholding India’s cultural traditions. He accused the Opposition of trying to divide the state along communal lines.

He further reiterated that India’s spiritual and historical identity is tied to Lord Ram, Lord Krishna, and Gautam Buddha—figures who symbolize unity, peace, and harmony.

Cultural Legacy vs Foreign Rule

Yogi Adityanath’s remarks also touched on India’s historical struggles against foreign rulers like Babur and Aurangzeb, who he claimed represented eras of oppression and division. In contrast, the traditions of Lord Ram, Krishna, and Buddha reflect:

Peace and unity

Cultural pride

Spiritual strength

Conclusion

The statement by Yogi Adityanath has reignited debates on India’s cultural identity and historical legacies. While the Opposition voiced concerns over potential communal disharmony, the Chief Minister firmly advocated for celebrating India’s spiritual heritage and dismissing the legacy of oppressive foreign rulers.

The issue continues to remain a topic of political discourse as the state navigates its path toward unity and cultural pride.

</excerpt>

At last we’ll have a clean Ganga at the behest of Mahakumbh-2025 festival being organised by the Uttar Pradesh government.

As Prayagraj gets ready for the grand site inauguration, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has made sure that the festival, which is set for January 13-26, will be not just magnificent but also safe and healthy.

For the same end, the UP Jal Nigam Urban in Salori is installing a geo tube-based treatment facility to treat wastewater from 22 untapped drains in the city, which is a crucial part of this preparation.

To maintain the Ganges River’s purity and cleanliness for the millions of pilgrims who attend the Mahakumbh, this project complies with the Chief Minister’s order that no untreated sewage or drain water enters the river.

On January 1, 2025, the Rs 55 crore treatment plant, which is presently in a trial phase, will start full operations.

The Executive Engineer, Saurabh Kumar explained that the geo tube technology is an advanced sewage treatment method. The technology treats around 40-50% of the Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) and 80% of the Total Suspended Solids (TSS) in the sewage water.

After the sewage water passes through the geo tubes, it is further purified with hydrogen peroxide and ozonised, which is safer than chlorination.

Ozonisation kills all types of faecal bacteria, ensuring that the treated water is safe for release into rivers.

Continuous monitoring of the treatment process will be conducted using OCEEMS (Online Continuous Effluent Monitoring System) technology to ensure standards are met. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the Salori plant on December 12 to oversee the preparations and issued clear instructions to ensure no issues arise during the Mahakumbh.

In addition, the Prime Minister unveiled the Kumbh Sah’AI’yak chatbot, which will provide guidance, updates, and detailed information about the Mahakumbh Mela 2025.

The Mahakumbh, which is held once every 12 years, is scheduled to begin on January 13 and conclude on February 26, 2025, in Prayagraj.

The main bathing rituals, known as the Shahi Snan (royal baths), will take place on January 14 (Makar Sankranti), January 29 (Mauni Amavasya), and February 3 (Basant Panchami).

Rescue teams are working tirelessly as over 50 remain trapped.
</excerpt>

A devastating fire broke out late Friday night in the neonatal ward of Rani Lakshmi Bai Medical College, Jhansi, resulting in the tragic deaths of 10 newborns. The fire, which began around 10:30 pm, has left the region in shock, as the hospital serves as a vital center for neonatal care.

Rescue Operations in Full Swing

Six fire brigade units, along with an Army firefighting vehicle, were deployed to tackle the blaze. Thick smoke in the neonatal care unit made rescue efforts challenging. So far, 37 infants have been rescued safely, while over 50 remain trapped.

Preliminary Cause and Safety Lapses

Initial reports suggest the fire was caused by a cylinder blast. Adding to the tragedy, the hospital’s safety alarm system failed to activate, which likely delayed evacuation efforts. The electricity supply was cut off as a precaution.

Government Response and Investigation

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken swift action, ordering an immediate inquiry into the incident. A committee led by the Jhansi divisional commissioner has been formed to probe the cause and submit a report. Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak and senior health officials are on their way to Jhansi, and a team of specialists from Kanpur has been dispatched to aid in rescue and medical care.

Grief and Chaos at the Hospital

Grieving families gathered at the hospital, creating a tense atmosphere. Police forces have been deployed to manage the crowd and maintain order.

A Regional Tragedy

The incident has deeply impacted Bundelkhand, as Rani Lakshmi Bai Medical College is a critical healthcare provider in the area. The tragedy has raised serious concerns about hospital safety protocols and emergency preparedness.

</excerpt>

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a scathing attack on Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge during a public meeting in Achalpur, Amravati, ahead of the upcoming assembly polls. The BJP leader criticized Kharge’s recent remarks and suggested that Kharge direct his anger towards the Hyderabad Nizam’s Razakars instead of targeting him.

Adityanath addressed Kharge’s accusations, stating, “These days, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge is unnecessarily angry at me. Kharge ji, don’t get angry at me; I respect your age. If you want to be angry, direct it at the Hyderabad Nizam. The Razakars under the Nizam burnt your village, brutally killed Hindus, and harmed your family members. Present this truth before the country that whenever there is division, it happens in the same brutal manner.”

The Chief Minister’s remarks come in response to Kharge’s indirect jibe at Yogi Adityanath during an election rally, where he implied that certain individuals disguised as ‘sadhus’ (saints) have entered politics.

Kharge’s Indirect Attack on Adityanath

On Sunday, Kharge took aim at Yogi Adityanath, stating, “Many leaders live in the guise of sadhus and have now become politicians. Some have even become chief ministers. They wear ‘gerua’ (saffron) clothes and have no hair on their heads. I say to the BJP: either wear white clothes as politicians do or, if you are a sanyasi (monk), wear ‘gerua’ clothes and stay out of politics. They wear saffron clothes but continue to divide people with statements like ‘batoge toh katogey’ (if divided, you will be cut).”

Kharge accused the BJP of spreading hatred and attempting to divide society through communal rhetoric.

Yogi Adityanath on Congress and the Partition of India

Yogi Adityanath further criticized the Congress party, alleging that its “greed for power” led to the Partition of India in 1947. He remarked, “There are many elections, but some are crucial for the fate of the country. In 1946, an election took place that changed India’s fate for the worse. Congress, in its greed for power, got entangled with a ‘Muslim gang,’ leading to the unfortunate Partition of India.”

Adityanath claimed that the division of the country resulted in the mass killing of Hindus, emphasizing the need for unity among voters.

During his address, Adityanath accused the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi of transforming Maharashtra into a “base for love jihad and land jihad.” He warned voters in Amravati, “Don’t make the mistake you made in the Lok Sabha elections here. If you are divided again, religious festivals like Lord Ganesh puja will face attacks, and lands will be captured under the pretext of love and land jihad. The safety of women will also be at risk.”

He urged voters not to let division weaken their community, suggesting that unity was essential for preventing the spread of what he described as threats to Hindu safety and culture.

In the 2024 general elections, the Congress won the Amravati constituency, defeating the BJP’s candidate, Navneet Rana, by a margin of around 20,000 votes. The BJP is looking to reclaim the seat in the upcoming polls, with Adityanath’s remarks targeting the voter base that had previously shifted towards the Congress.

The escalating exchange of words between Adityanath and Kharge highlights the intensifying campaign rhetoric as Maharashtra gears up for its assembly elections on November 20. Both leaders have sought to frame the narrative around issues of religious identity, historical grievances, and regional unity in an effort to sway voters ahead of the crucial polls.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s recent slogan, “Batenge to Katenge” (if divided, we will be decimated), has sparked significant attention across India. Initially used to encourage unity and rally support during political campaigns, the phrase has now found its way into unexpected places, including wedding invitations, stirring both admiration and criticism. Although the slogan has faced some controversy, its reach has expanded beyond Uttar Pradesh and found a unique platform in other states, particularly among BJP supporters.

From Political Rally to Wedding Invitation

The slogan’s influence has transcended political rallies and entered the realm of personal celebrations, with some even using it on wedding invitations. In Gujarat, a BJP worker from Bhavnagar printed the slogan on his brother’s wedding card. This unusual combination of politics and personal life has led to widespread discussions on social media, further amplifying the slogan’s impact. The invitation, set to be sent out for a wedding on November 23, also features images of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lord Ram of Ayodhya, blending religious and political symbols in a deeply personal context.

A Symbol of Unity and Hindu Cohesion

The phrase “Batenge to Katenge” was initially introduced by Yogi Adityanath during an election rally in Haryana, promoting Hindu unity amidst recent challenges faced by the Hindu community, particularly in Bangladesh. The slogan has been strongly embraced by the RSS, which has long advocated for Hindu cohesion beyond caste and social divides. BJP leaders have incorporated this slogan into their political campaigns, reinforcing a message of unity and solidarity among Hindus.

Political Relevance and Expansion

As the slogan gains traction, senior BJP leaders have rallied behind it, using it to further solidify their stance on Hindu unity. Prime Minister Modi has also introduced his message of unity, “Ek Hain, To Safe Hain” (We are one, we are safe) for the Maharashtra assembly elections. The combination of these slogans has created a powerful political narrative ahead of the state elections, emphasizing solidarity among the Hindu community as a unifying force.

Political Influence in Everyday Life

The incorporation of Yogi Adityanath’s slogan into a wedding invitation highlights the growing influence of political messages in daily life. While the trend may be controversial, it demonstrates how deeply embedded political themes can be, even in the most personal aspects of people’s lives. The slogan’s shift from the political stage to the wedding card symbolizes the ongoing blend of politics and culture in contemporary India.

</excerpt>

Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, during a speech at the ‘Samvidhan Bachao Sammelan’ on Sunday, made an indirect attack on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, accusing him of using religious attire as a political guise. Without naming Adityanath directly, Kharge remarked, “Many leaders live in the guise of sadhus and have now become politicians. Some have even become chief ministers.”

Kharge’s comments were seen as a pointed reference to Yogi Adityanath, who serves as both the head priest of the Gorakhnath Math in Gorakhpur and the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Kharge criticized leaders wearing ‘gerua’ (saffron) robes, stating, “They wear saffron clothes, have no hair on their heads, and claim to be saints, but engage in divisive politics. If you are a sanyasi, wear your robes and leave politics. Otherwise, wear white and join political discourse without spreading hate.”

Condemns Yogi’s ‘Batoge Toh Katogey’ Slogan

Kharge also took issue with Adityanath’s recent slogan, “Batoge toh katogey” (If we divide, we will be cut), accusing the Chief Minister of inciting hatred and division. He said, “These leaders are spreading hatred among the people and attempting to divide them. They should focus on unity, not divisiveness.”

Further targeting the BJP, Kharge alleged that the party, along with the RSS, is the real threat to the country’s unity. “BJP is coming up with new slogans, but I ask, is there any real danger to the country? If there is a threat, it is from the BJP and RSS. They are the ones talking about division and violence from morning till night,” Kharge said, contrasting it with the Congress’s efforts to maintain national unity. He cited the example of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s martyrdom, emphasizing the party’s legacy in keeping the nation united.

Kharge also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for avoiding media engagement, saying, “In earlier times, heads of government met and interacted with opposition leaders. Today, forget meeting opposition leaders, Narendra Modi doesn’t even speak to the press.”

MVA Joint Manifesto Launched in Maharashtra

Earlier on Sunday, Kharge launched the joint manifesto of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance for the upcoming Assembly polls in Maharashtra. The manifesto, titled ‘Maharashtra Nama,’ outlines five core areas for development: farming and rural development, industry and employment, urban development, environment, and public welfare.

Kharge highlighted several key promises, including a monthly financial aid of ₹3,000 to women under the ‘Mahalakshmi Scheme,’ free bus services for women, and ₹50,000 incentives to farmers repaying loans on time. Additionally, the manifesto proposes a ₹4,000 monthly stipend for job-seeking youth and a ₹25 lakh health insurance scheme, modeled after the one implemented by Ashok Gehlot in Rajasthan.

Kharge also pledged to conduct a caste census and vowed to lift the 50% cap on reservations, following the model used in Tamil Nadu.

The Maharashtra Assembly polls are set for November 20, with counting scheduled for November 23. The electoral contest is shaping up as a major showdown between the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance and the MVA, intensifying political campaigning and rhetoric as the state approaches the election date for its 288 Assembly seats.

The message, which warned that Adityanath would be killed “like Baba Siddique” if he did not resign within 10 days, was traced back to Khan’s phone number.

Khan, who is reportedly well-educated and holds a BSc in Information Technology, has been experiencing mental health issues. She lives in Thane near Mumbai with her family; her father works in the timber industry.

The threat was received by the Mumbai Traffic Police control room via a WhatsApp helpline from an unknown number. This incident follows a series of death threats that have targeted various individuals in Mumbai, most notably Bollywood actor Salman Khan. Recently, threats against Khan included demands for ransom, leading to the arrest of individuals involved, such as a vegetable seller from Jamshedpur and a tattoo artist from Noida.

The recent message also mentioned Zeeshan Siddique, the son of former Bandra MLA Baba Siddique, who was shot dead near his office on October 12. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for Siddique’s murder. This gang has been linked to previous threats against Salman Khan, notably related to the actor’s involvement in the blackbuck hunting case during the filming of *Hum Saath Saath Hain*. In light of these incidents, Khan’s security has been increased.

</excerpt>

The Mumbai Police have received a threatening message stating that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath would be killed like NCP leader Baba Siddique if he did not resign within ten days.

The threat was reported to the police on Saturday evening via an unknown number, prompting an investigation into the sender’s identity. In response to the threat, security measures for Adityanath have been intensified.

Baba Siddique was murdered by three assailants outside his son Zeeshan Siddique’s office during a Dussehra celebration on October 12.

Additionally, it’s worth noting that in the past two weeks, over 500 domestic and international flights have received bomb threats, leading to significant operational disruptions for airlines. However, these threats were later determined to be hoaxes by security agencies, with most issued through social media.

We are here to honour Lord Ram and reaffirm our dedication to our rich cultural heritage.” The reenactment of Lord Ram’s return on the mythical ‘Pushpak Viman’ was a key highlight, with flower petals showered from helicopters. Spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar remarked on the city’s transformation: “Change can be seen here, and the credit goes to CM Yogi Adityanath. Ayodhya has been transformed.”

As part of the celebrations, more than 33,000 diyas (oil lamps) were lit on the banks of the Saryu River, setting a world record with the display spelling out “Siyavar Ramchandra Ki Jai.” This was a symbolic and visual representation of reverence for Lord Ram. The Chief Minister, joined by Governor Anandiben Patel, led a symbolic coronation ceremony of Lord Ram, symbolising the deity’s return to Ayodhya after exile.

The event also witnessed strong corporate participation. Several companies contributed to the decorations and broadcast the ceremony live across multiplexes, allowing people nationwide to join in the celebration. “The consecration of the Ram Temple is not just a religious moment; it marks a civilisational milestone,” Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma commented in his address, calling on people of all faiths to unite in prayer on this significant day.

Bahraich Encounter: Details of the Latest Incident

On October 17, two suspects involved in the Bahraich violence were shot by Uttar Pradesh Police while allegedly attempting to escape to Nepal. The suspects, identified as Sarfaraz alias Rinku and Mohammed Taleeb, were injured during a police operation based on a tip-off.

According to Amitabh Yash, Chief of the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF), the police were led to the suspects by information provided by two of their accomplices. The operation resulted in the recovery of firearms, including a loaded gun.

Both have sustained gunshot wounds to their legs and are currently undergoing medical treatment.” The suspects have been referred to the district hospital for further care.

The violence in Bahraich, which erupted on October 13, stemmed from an alleged dispute over loud music being played during a Durga Puja immersion procession near a place of worship. The incident resulted in the death of 22-year-old Ram Gopal Mishra from gunshot wounds.

Other High-Profile Encounters Under Yogi Adityanath’s Government

The Bahraich encounter is the latest in a series of high-profile police actions since 2017, when Yogi Adityanath took office. Several notable encounters have taken place over the past six years:

Moti Singh Encounter (February 2021): Moti Singh, accused of killing a constable in Kasganj, was shot by the police.

Vinod Kumar Singh (September 2022): A gangster with a ₹1 lakh bounty, Vinod Kumar Singh was killed in a shootout with Jaunpur police.

Manish Singh, alias Sonu (March 2022): Wanted in 32 criminal cases and carrying a ₹2 lakh bounty, Manish Singh was killed in Varanasi by the STF.

Many of these individuals were wanted for serious offenses and carried cash rewards ranging from ₹75,000 to ₹5 lakh.

In addition to the fatalities, over 23,000 arrests have been made, with 4,911 suspects sustaining injuries. The crackdown has not been without cost to the police force, as 15 officers have lost their lives, and 1,424 have been injured in the line of duty.

The surge in police encounters has sparked a political debate, with opposition parties frequently criticizing the government for the rising number of extrajudicial killings. In one recent case, the death of Mangesh Yadav, who was involved in the Sultanpur robbery, led to heated exchanges between the ruling party and opposition.

The Yogi Adityanath government’s stance on law and order continues to be a focal point in the state’s political landscape, with police encounters seen as both a tool for swift justice and a topic of ongoing controversy.

</excerpt>

A recent social media incident has stirred significant debate after an X user, Neha Singh Rathore, shared a video featuring edited clips of prominent Indian leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mahatma Gandhi, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, dancing to Bhojpuri songs. Rathore, who identifies as a nationalist, social activist, and public speaker, condemned the videos, questioning the intentions behind their creation.

Criticism of Content Creators

In her post, Rathore expressed outrage over the edited footage, highlighting the efforts made by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the honor and empowerment of women in Uttar Pradesh. “How can some cheap street reelers use Yogi Ji for a few views?” she questioned, criticizing those behind the videos. She further remarked on the inappropriate use of footage featuring revered figures like Mahatma Gandhi and PM Modi for what she termed “cheap popularity.”

WATCH THE VIRAL VIDEO:

Rathore’s post also called upon the Ballia police to take swift action against those responsible for the videos, asking, “When will action be taken against this cheap street reeler?”

Legal Action Underway

Following Rathore’s complaint, an FIR has been registered against unknown individuals under sections of the Information Technology Act. Praveen Singh, the head of the media cell at Cyber Thana, lodged the complaint. Additional Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar Jha assured the public that the police are actively investigating the matter and legal actions will follow against those found culpable.

Modi’s Response to Similar Incidents

This incident isn’t the first time Prime Minister Modi has engaged with memes and edits on social media. During the recent Lok Sabha elections, he positively responded to a humorous animated meme of himself dancing, saying he enjoyed seeing himself in such light-hearted content. Modi remarked, “Such creativity in peak poll season is truly a delight! #PollHumour,” showcasing his appreciation for humor in political discourse.

The unfolding events have ignited discussions on the ethics of editing public figures’ images and the potential repercussions for creators of such content. As the investigation proceeds, many are watching closely to see how authorities will address this unique intersection of social media and political representation.

We must avoid repeating the mistakes seen in Bangladesh,” he stated, urging, “Batenge to Katenge, Ek Rahenge to Nek Rahenge.” His comments follow a recent critique of the Opposition for its silence on attacks against Hindus and the destruction of temples.

</excerpt>

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday emphasized the importance of unity in light of the ongoing unrest in Bangladesh.

“Nothing is above the nation, and it will only be strengthened when we stand united. ‘If we divide, we will suffer’. You can see what is happening in Bangladesh. We should not make the same mistakes here… ‘If we divide, we will suffer; if we stay united, we will thrive’,” Adityanath said during a public meeting in Agra.

His remarks follow a statement the previous day in which Adityanath criticized the opposition for its ‘silence’ on the attacks against Hindus in Bangladesh. “While the opposition is quick to comment on international issues, it remains silent about the persecution of Hindus and the destruction of temples in Bangladesh. They speak up about Palestine but ignore Bangladesh because they fear losing their vote bank,” he said in Mathura.

The Chief Minister’s comments come amid reports of unrest in Bangladesh, which has been experiencing a political crisis since August 5, after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled the country.

There have been numerous reports of widespread attacks on Hindus, who make up about 8% of Bangladesh’s population. Hindu temples have been desecrated, and properties belonging to community members have been attacked by mobs.

Historically, Hindus in Bangladesh have supported Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League, which led the country’s liberation movement in 1971. The Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, a minority rights group, reported to AFP on August 16 that there have been 200 attacks on Hindus since the Awami League leader’s departure.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed concern, stating in a social media post while congratulating Bangladesh’s interim government’s Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus, “We hope for an early return to normalcy, ensuring the safety and protection of Hindus and all other minority communities.”

</excerpt>

In Uttar Pradesh, over 13 lakh government employees are facing the risk of losing their salaries if they do not comply with a directive from the Yogi Adityanath government to declare their movable and immovable assets on the government portal, Manav Sampada, by August 31. This order, originally issued in August last year, has seen multiple deadline extensions due to low compliance, with the latest extension marking a final ultimatum. Despite these extensions, only about 26% of the state’s 17.88 lakh government employees have submitted their asset details, leaving the majority at risk.

Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh has made it clear that only those who comply with the directive by the August 31 deadline will receive their salaries for the month. The state government has defended the measure as a move to enhance transparency and accountability within the administration, in line with its zero-tolerance policy towards corruption.

However, the opposition, particularly the Samajwadi Party, has criticized the move, arguing that the multiple extensions highlight the government’s failure to enforce its own orders effectively. They question why such a measure was not implemented earlier in Yogi Adityanath’s tenure and suggest that the government is now trying to cover up its shortcomings by enforcing this order.

The order is mandatory for all categories of officers and employees, and non-compliance will not only affect their salaries but also their eligibility for promotions. The directive has been communicated to all relevant department heads and officials to ensure compliance.
